Alva Family

I am searching for family members on my mother's side. Her grandmother's name was Jovita Alva. She had a brother named Julio Alva whose last known address was in Paso Robles, California. He had a daughter named Simona Alva Flores who was married to Ignacio Flores and the last known address for them was 380 Trinity Avenue, Seaside, California (please don't ask how she remembers that but I figured when someone means so much to you, you tend to remember those things). If anyone has any information, I would really appreciate it.

My maternal grandfather was Frank Alva, born in Mexico, my maternal grandmother was Juanita (Jenny) Duran Alva born in Colorado. They lived in Longmont, Colorado. Both died in the 1920's. My grandmother died first, my grandfather was killed a few years later by lightening. They had three little girls, Pearl, Alice and Sadie. The little girls were taken to live in Mexico by an aunt, Angelita Valdivia. We know none of the relatives on the Alva side and would love some information.

More information on the Alva surname

I have been researching my father's side of the family for sometime. My great grandfather was Leandro Aceves whom married Soledad Alva. They had two children, Emiliano Alva b. 1888 in Encarnacion de Dias, Jalisco & Maria de Jesus Alva born 1890 also in Encarnacion. Emiliano Alva whom was my grandfather had many children; 11 so far that I have found. First family was w/ Maria Luna from San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He had Jose, Berta & Raul De Alva. I found Berta listed as a school teacher in Mexico, but no other information. Then I found Maria del Rosario Ochoa from El Paso, Texas whom had 4 chilren w/ Emiliano Alva; Francisco Emiliano, Soledad, Marcelo & Nicolas. I have been able to find that Nicolas was married to a Juana Ramirez that passed in 2006 in El Paso. They had 3 children incommon; Nicolas Jr (passed 93 buried @ Fort Bliss Cemetery), Maria Isela Alva whom is married to a Ramon D. Gallegos & Ernestina Alva whom is married to a Juan A. Segura. I have not been able to locate them, but have found this information. Next he married Carmen Hernandez Gomez from Ciudad Juarez, Chih & had Arcadia Alva in 1933 whom passed shortly after birth & then my father, Emiliano Hernandez Alva in 1935 (still living), shortly after giving birth to my father, his mother passed. In 1936 Emiliano had his 10th child w/ Maria Correa whom was Juan Jose Alva, & then another in 1938 whom was Jose Dolores Alva. In 1939, Emiliano Alva passed. After this, all has been so hush, hush. Do any of these names sound familiar? Can anyone help me find any living relatives for my father?

Michael,

I am also an Alva in search of my roots. My father is 66 years old right now and he doesn't know much about his Alva heritage as his mother died when he was a month old and his own father died when he was only 4 years old. I do know that my grandfather's name was Emiliano Alva born August 8, 1888 and registered for his baptismal in Encarnacion De Dias, Jalisco. My grandfather died in Juarez on December 29, 1939. I have found out that my grandfather had many children with different women and I have located one family. Unfortunately all my father's siblings have passed away and all were from El Paso, Texas. Though they have passed.... I have met many cousins and learned quite a bit working together. If any of this sounds familiar or maybe we can just exchange some information. My grandfather had 4 children in the early 1900's by the names of Soledad, Francisco, Marcelo and Nicolas. He then had my father nearly 20 years later in 1935 whom is Emiliano Alva also. Then a few years later he had two more children with Maria. These are the last siblings born named Juan and Jose Alva. I hope we can help each other in our search.

Good Luck,

Josie Alva

although my grandfather is believed to be from El Paso, TX. His name was Margarito Alva Sr. and he married Cipriana Estrada of Woodlake (Visalia). I remember that in the 60s, the Alva family was huge and has dwindled down to a very few. But what I've seen so far, there have been striking resemblances along the lines. Keep me posted if we are related.

Steve
