Looking for the parents of Joseph A. Barbee (b. @ 1820 in Florida) who lived in the Jacksonville area during the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 census periods. Wife Mary M. (Manning?). 1880 has his father born in France, mother in Florida. Looks like there may be some sort of connection between Joseph and Jose Alvarez (1771 - 1837) and Juana Barbee (1794 - 1837) but not certain.. possibly witnessing some legal documents for the Alvarez family. Seems too much for coincidence with naming conventions. Could Joseph A. Barbee be Joseph Alvarez Barbee using the Spanish naming convention? Maybe a nephew of Juana's?
