Maria, I don't think your family and mine are related.

My grandfather Francesco Alvaro married Antonia Rosa Franze and their children were Domenico (my father), Angeline, Nataline and Agata. They came from Caraffa, del Bianco, Reggio, Calabria.

Did Francesco Alvaro come from Italy? If so , where? I have a great grandfather who was Francesco Alvaro married to Francesca Cusmano from , I believe, Calabria Italy. Francesco had a daughter, maria, who came to Rochester, NY around 1960's.

Hello Renata,

I reside in the US, specifically NY. Not surprisingly, I have family in Australia in Adelaide and Sydney. They have the name Cordi, Sorrenti and Raschelli. As a matter of fact, my dad, Domenick is cousins with the famous Aussie comedian Vince Sorrecti. I suspect you may have heard of him. He has been to the states several times and stayed at my place in Brooklyn back in the late 80's.

As for the Alvaro family, I am not sure of who made it over to Australia. However, I am quite certain that all of my grandfathers siblings came to the states or stayed in Calabria.

Have you been to either Italy or the States.My family insists we need to visit Australia and I am actually planning a trip in 2006. If you ever come to the States, please drop me a line.

I am looking for any information regarding my Great Uncle Salvatore Alvaro. He immigrated to Rochester, N.Y. in the 1920's. His brother Francesco Alvaro was my Grandfather and his other brother Vincenzo was my other Great Uncle. They both lived in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. I am looking for there children ( my cousins ) which migrated
to some where in Canada.

My grandparents along with my mother and her sister came
to America from Calabria some time in mid 1920s.

Alvaro in California

I am trying to find descensants of Joseph and Catherine Alvaro. They lived in Sacramento in 1943, but may have moved to or from San Francisco. They had three children: Agnes, Louise and Mary. Catherine's grandmother is the sister of my ggrandfather and thought they might have some family history to share.

Well.... I am just another lucky guy with a Gfather named Giuseppe Alvaro. He was born in Reggio Calabria, specifically from Roccella Ionica. He was born June 3, 1912. His brothers included Domenico, Francesco, Vincenzo and Freddy (not sure if is Ferdinando). He also has several sisters. If any of this rings a bell in anyones tree, drop me a note.

here in approxamatly 1926. Brother Luigi was

I found some information about my grandfather. He will be easier to track than my grandmother. My father always told me that she was an only child.

Also, my grandfather never changed his first name. He always kept it as Giuseppe, he NEVER changed it to Joe.
