She died 22 June 2004 in Dallas, TX.
She was born 30 Oct 1932 in Llano, TX to Michael and Ernestine Miller.
She graduated from mason High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in education from Incarnate Word College and her Master's degree in Education from Trinity University. SHe also received her certification in counseling.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was a teacher in the Dallas Independent School District and in Alamo Heights Independent School District, a member of National Educational Association and the Texas State Teacher association. She was nominated Teacher of the Year at Alamo Heights in 1971 an dthen for the National Teacher of the Year in 1979 when she was teaching at Dallas, TX.
She was also involved with Girl Scouts of America, Eastern Star, North Dallas Women's Club, a volunteer for Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.
Predeceased by husband Herbert A. Alves Jr.,brothers, Gordon Wells and Latham Miller.
Survived by daughters Barbara Ball and husband Jim, Patricia Powell and husband Tom, Allison Hood and husband Perry;grandchildren, Trey and Laura Ball and Lindsey(Oldest grandchild) and Jeffrey Powell.
Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas, TX
