Anyone converse with Gary Alvino recently? Perhaps a new email addy, since his erols account is no longer active.

I could sure use your help on the family history of Dr. Ernest Eugene
Alvin (I believe orginally, Alvino), brother? to Dr William Alvin(o) and
husband to Orsalena 'lena' Constance Walling (Vallelunga).

I'm trying to help a cousin and my D-I-L who is a Vallelunga descendant,
with this portion of the family. It appears that another sister, Angelyn
Walling, married John Alvino, probably somehow connected with Ernest as
well.

Hope the e-mail addy is still good (it was not) and let me know if you can point me in
some direction for some research on these PA Alvin(o)'s as well as your
branch in NJ.

I'm also looking for information on the Alvino family, and here is what I have so far.. My great-great grandmother, Maria Alvino, was born in 1867 and came to America in 1882. Her father's name was Giuseppe Alvino. Was your grandfather's sister Maria older than him? I think that Maria came over by herself, as I did not see any record of her parents with her. Hope this helps.. I'm trying to find out what part of italy my family is from, maybe it is Caulonia! =)

Just found this message board and was interested in trying to find some information on relatives of my grandfather. My grandfather Nicola Alvino was born in caulonia, Reggio Calabria in 1903. My father was able to tell me that he came to the United States and settled in the West Virginia/Ohio area. He could recall that my grandfather talked about having sisters named rosina, caterina, and maria and two brothers francesco, and giuseppe. If anyone can help that would be great

Just found this message board and was interested in trying to find some information on relatives of my grandfather. My grandfather Nicola Alvino was born in Reggio Calabria in 1903. My father was able to tell me that he came to the United States and settled in the West Virginia/Ohio area. He could recall that my grandfather talked about having a brother Joseph but wasn't sure of any other siblings names. My Uncle knows more information but I haven't really got a chance to sit down and ask him. My Alvino family branch has grown to be pretty large with families mostly in Bucks County, PA, parts of New Jersey, and also Florida.

My husbands family came from Italy to New York, and then settled in
New Jersey. (Jersey City area) His father was the first Alvino born in the USA. They kept the Alvino spelling.
Sadly, no one seems to recall the grandfather or grandmothers first names.
There are many stories of the grandmother coming from an area with many vinyards, and how her feet were still purple from stomping grapes as a young woman.
There were sons: Dominic and Anthony.
As well as other children.
My husband is Glenn.
I do not know if there is a connection.

I am distantly related to the Alvino family through my great-great-aunt Theresa Parlapiano (b. 1910). She married John Alvino and had a son named John Alvino Jr., who is my fourth cousin, twice removed. That's all I know. Im Yolanda Albino. Im looking for my Albino family branch. I was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico. And I've found that in my family there are both surnames.. Albino and Alvino. I though that the difference was because a mistake.
Do you have information about Albino Family in Puerto Rico or who was the first to came to the island. Also if you have the meaning of that, I aprreciate that you send it to me too.

I'm also an Alvino, but I must come from another branch, since all my family is from Puerto Rico. My father's father was Puertorican, born and raised. He later moved to the states, particularly NY. It is pretty interesting to know that there are so many branches out there.

Hey, Mark: Very cool to hear from you! Since I posted this message a couple of years ago, I've found out a lot more info. about the Alvino family, at least my own branch. FYI, we are indeed from the Naples area -- the village of Pontecagnano-Faiano to be specific. This tiny village is in the hills of Calabria, in the Province of Salerno. I've not yet been to Italy, but I hope to visit there in the next year or so.
In my research, I've found that the Alvino family name is most prevalent in the Naples region. I"ve also found what *may* be the Alvino family crest, but that could just be something that a marketing firm created w/ no basis in actual fact. I can't say for sure, but all of my research has been enough to motivate me to organize an Alvino family reunion next June in my hometown of Newfield in Gloucester County, South Jersey. This event would be to celebrate the 100th anniversary of my grandfather's arrival in America, which is really something to think about!
I'm always happy to learn about other Alvinos and I'm aware of several branches up in the North Jersey area as well as another branch in Ocean County, near Point Pleasant. If you're willing, can you tell me a little about your own family's history? I'm just curious and you never know...maybe we've got a common thread back there somewhere.
Either way, I was very glad to get your message and you should feel free to be in touch if you want to know more about what I've found out about the Alvinos in my research.

I think the name comes from either Naples or Calabria. My family is from northern NJ (GlenRidge) and I remember my grandfather saying he was from Naples.

Who married my grandmother Assunta Esposito DeTommaso. I heard that they married in NJ, but I have no documentation of that. They spent most of their lives in NY. Their last address was in Brooklyn. Saw your post and thought I'd reply. I'm from NY. My paternal grandfather was John Joseph and I believe his father was Joseph. They lived in The Bronx, New York. That's all I know!

Folks: I just found this msg. board while searching the net for any info. on the Alvino family name. Hopefully, those who read this can help.

FYI, our branch of the family emigrated to the US around 1904 and ended up in the Pittsburgh area, where some members remain (their name was changed to "Alvin". Our family line moved to southern NJ (Vineland area) during the Depression.

None of my remaining relatives can say for sure where in Italy we originally came from. We had always believed it to be Naples, but only recently has Campobasso been offered as a possibility.

I am interested in knowing anything and everything about the Alvino family, incl. history, branches, etc. and any efforts being made to connect the tribes. If anyone has info., please send to alvino1@erols.com. Thanks much.

i have relatives living in n.j. now, but originally from brooklyn, ny. my father was born in 1912, in ny, but his father, modesto, did come from italy around the turn of the century. my father, now deceased, did say his father was from naples also, i really don't know. i don't know if any of this helps you, but its nice to hear from another alvino out there!
