Robert L. Alward, age 81,
passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Millcreek Manor. Born April 11, 1928, in Erie,pa,
he was the son of the late Bruce and Agnes Prescott Alward. Robert graduated from Academy High School and then served in the United States Navy where he received an honorable discharge in 1946. He was a tool and die maker and later a purchaser at Ogden Manufacturing in Edinboro before his retirement in 1990. He loved boating, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Beverly J. Bonin Alward. Survivors include two daughters, Carol S. McStraw of Erie and Deborah L. Westbrook, husband Darrell, of Florida; 1 son Thomas M. Alward, wife Letty of Erie and a stepson, Robert B. Horn also of Erie;
ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Bebko, husband Bob, of Florida
and Eleanor Samsel of Erie.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Services will be held there on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harry Johns III officiating. Burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
