I am sorry we can not help out each other at this point. I feel sure with both having been in McMinn County, Tennessee--it must be the same Aly family, brother, sister, cousin, something. I will keep you in mind if I find anything. Thanks!

This is an old message so I am hopping you are still looking for information. I don't know that I can help but you may be able to help me. I have been looking for Cathererine (Kate) Aly's family.Kate was born 09 July 1820, She married James B. Cameron on 23 April, 1943 in McMinn Co., Tennessee. I think her father was either John or James Aly. Could this be the same family you are working on?

James B. Cameron and Kate Aly Cameron moved from Tennessee to Titus County Texas. Kate died in Titus County on 22 Oct 1905.

Aly/Ali? HELP!

Hi,
I am looking for an Aly family that came to America before 1888 from Egypt and settled in the St. Louis, Missouri area.
His name is Tayab Ebrahem Aly or spelled Taib Ebrahem Ali or ??. He used a surname of Egypt when writing home. His last letter was dated 5th February 1905 and the address was 1827 Longfellow Blvd., St. Louis, MO.

He had a wife....do not know her name. Also a son Ebrahem and daughter Mena.

I have a wonderful lady at the St. Louis library working on this but I am afraid she is getting very exasperated.

I could really use a break on this one. So if it sounds remotely possible or you have a suggestion please email me.

Thank you.
Kelly
Lkholli@msn.com

Hi Sharon
I think that we may be on to something.. My line is from John Al(e)y.. John was born in 1817 in Greene Co., Tn.. He maried Agnes Cole in Greene Co. and they do not show up in anything before the 1840 McMinn co. census.. They were members of Pond Creek Baptist Church in McMinn before leaving for Texas in 1848.. I do not have any sibs for John but same spelling, without the "E", timeframe and location, makes this a very possible connection.. Trouble is this is as far as any of us have gotten.. Lets talk more, please email me at.. lisakay@hpnc.com....thanks Scott Aly

Hi Doug,
Our hearts and prayers are out to your family. I am almost positive that we are the same family. If I am right in my your father Robert has brothers Tim, Greg, Geoff, and Cory and sisters Cindy, Judy, Jenny, and Nenna. If this is correct, your grand father Robert Albert or Ray as I knew him, was my fathers half brother. Again if I am on line, your aunt Neena had told me about your grandmother, Aunt Toni as I knew here. If all this is correct, please pass our love and sympathies to the rest of the family.

Hi Sherri
I have seen the group of Aly from the Ill.-Ind.-Pa. area but have not been able to connect them to mine.My line came from Tenn. to Texas in the 1848-1850 span. We know that they were from Tenn. But can not narrow down the county. My oldest descendant was married in Greene Co. but we have no census records to locate him there. The first census record to contain John was 1840 McMinn Co. I am fairly sure that if I could get back further we probably could connect families but I have had no luck going any further back. Good luck

Scott

My maiden name was Aly. My father was Hillis Irvin Aly - the son of William Seigel and Anna Walter Aly. Seigel (as he was called ) was one of four brothers who came to this country from Germany. They following the Ohio river from Pennsylvania down to a little town in extreme southeastern Illinois named Golconda. They came here because they had heard there was a German community nearby. It was called Waltersburg and still exists. During the early months of their residency here two of the sons, Seigel and Charles, met and married local girls and decided to stay in the area and farm the land. The other two brothers, Wilson and Ralph, continued south into Mississippi and Louisiana. Both of these brothers did very well in their chosen pursuits. I am now 75 years of age. I have one surviving sibling, a sister, Zona Aly Phillips who resides in Paducah, KY. and is coming upon her 90th birthday this year. My father passed away at age 62 in 1953. My mother ( Lula Whiteside Aly) passed away in 1981 at age 87. One sister, Frances (Aly) Taylor died in 1986 at age 71 and one brother, Russell Eugene Aly, died in 1990 at age 70. Russell's daughter, Sherrie Aly, is now age 47 and retired from the Navy as a Commander in 1996. I believe you may have already been in touch with her. My sister Zona's only child - a son - Thomas Aly Baker retired in 1993 from the U.S. Air Force as a Lt. General. He now resides in Austin, TX.
There is a much more detailed history of this side of the Aly family which you can obtain by writing to a cousin (once removed) of mine. He is Ralph Aly, Box 69, Eddyville, IL. 62928. Phone: 618-672-4222

Doris (Aly) Hancock
3126 Double Eagle Ct.
Spring Hill, FL. 34606
352-666-1879
hhancock@tampabay.rr.com

Hi Scott,
I just replied to your posting, but I may have put it in the wrong spot. Below is some info my Aunt sent.

Sherrie: I would put the Aly man intouch with Ralph Aly. He has a lengthy geneology on the Aly family. I feel sure this man, Scott, is a relative in some way. Ralph's address is: Ralph Aly
Box 69
Eddyville, IL. 62928
Phone: 618-672-4222
As I know you remember, Ralph has had funeral homes in the Pope-Johnson county area for almost a half century now. They had three sons - Charles, Douglas, and Jeffrey. Douglas married a Pope county girl - had one daughter - was divorced and took over one of the funeral homes after he finished embalming school. He remarried and was then tragically killed in a car wreck in 1983. Ralph, realizing he was reaching an age that he wouldn't be able to continue with the business convinced the older son, Charles, to go to embalming school. Charles (Chuck) is married with children and is now in charge of the funeral homes in Eddyville and Golconda, Ralph has since sold the one in Vienna, IL. Chuch's son, Mark, is also an embalmer, funeral director and coroner for Pope county. So, it has become a family business. I have a cursory knowledge of the family lineage but ScottAly almost HAS to have ties to our family. There were only four brothers who came to this country. Two married and stayed in Pope county and the other two moved on - one to Mississippi and the other to Louisiana. If this Scott Aly will just make contaact with Ralph I am sure he will be able to get a lot more information.

Hi Scott,
I saw your posting, and sent it to my Aunt. She is my father's sister. My father was Russell Eugene Aly (deceased in 1990). I would recommend you contact Ralph Aly, as my Aunt recommends. He has done a great deal of geneology research, and should certainly be able to fill in some missing spots for you.
Sincerely,
Sherrie Aly

Sherrie: I would put the Aly man intouch with Ralph Aly.
ALY Name

Hello, I am an Aly. My Father was Russell E. Aly, from Golconda, Ill. There are a number of Aly's from Golconda. Hillis and Lula Aly had 4 children, Russell (my Father), Zona, Francis, and Doris. (Russ and Francis are now deceased) There is a Charles Aly who runs a Funeral Home near Golconda. My Aunt Doris' email is "hhancock@tampabay.rr.com", and she would love to hear from you! We are aware there are Aly's in MO and AK! Also, I met a "Stuart Aly" while working in the Pentagon. He had a good deal of family background. I believe he still works there (in the Office of the Secretary of Defense..General Counsel.) Hope all this helps.
Sherrie

Thanks for helping. My father (Robert e. Aly) was born in Texas. Along w/5 other siblings. They lived in the Abiline area I believe. His mother Antoinette Aly (Koory-maiden) died this morning at 4:30. So where a little stressed out right now. But her parents are from Lebanon. Her mothers name was Minne Koory. I do not no her fathers name. My dad's father has the same name as my Dad, except for his middle started w/ an A. He passed away in 1990. I'm trying to remember his parents. I'll have to get back to you when I can remeber that. Thanks for your help.

Doug Aly
