Hi Natalie,

I asked them after reading your reply and yes they do remember and I would not be surprised that it was because they were busy that the cards and letters stop or did not get answered - in fact the whole family is just too busy including my brothers who have kids and yet do not show up for family get togethers!!! anyways, its good to know that there is family in other places!!!

For myself I am interested in the history of ones family - this mostly came about from my dad and from my mother`s side inwhich she is french canadian and native american as well so for myself I have cousins living on the reserve not far from here.

Now if I can find more info going to my dad`s father side perhaps...

Hi Paolo,
I am so happy to hear from you. You must be Severino's son. I met Aunt Norina in 1968 when my husband was stationed in Germany. Primo is my father. I found Lino in 2003. Your parents and I have sent Christmas cards and I sent a letter but they did not reply. Maybe they forgot or got busy. Are you interested in genealogy? Do you use Skype? Looking forward to hearing from you. Ciao cugino!

Hi Natalie,

My name is Paolo Gottardo and by some very quirky coincidence I happen upon your thread about the Amadio family name and its relation to the Gottardo family name. I read this thread where you mention that you met Lino Gottardo and his daughter Sonia which happens to be my uncle and cousin. My dad's mother is named Norina Amadio and Primo would happen to be her brother. We are in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Let me know if there is something to talk about. Ciao!!!!!

Does anyone know anything about this Giuseppe? There are also some directory listings of (supposedly) him in London as a "fruiterer". He died in 1952 at the age of 79, making him roughly similar in age to a Giuseppe I'm looking for.

Hello,
I will have my son help me register on Skype tomorrow. There is a seven hour time difference, I believe, between US and France. You are seven hours ahead of us. What time is a good time for you?

No, Olindo does not have my email address or phone number. I don't speak Italian and I don't know if he has a computer. Do you know Lino Gottardo's daughter Sonia Bardini? They live in Volpago. They speak English and Sonia has a computer. Her brother Andy does too but he does not speak English.

I will register on Skype tomorrow.

My father had blue eyes and so do I. I look very much like Olindo and Lino, especially the eyes. No, my father did not have a clothes shop. Why do you ask?

Looking forward to tomorrow Benedicte and Berengere.
Natalie

I met Olindo in 2002.

I don't know how to use Skype but I can research it. I live in Naples, Florida, USA most of the year. I come to Chicago, Illinois area in the summer and in December. I am in the Chicago area now and will go home on January 3.

My name is Natalie Tracy. If I send you my email address do you know if it will appear in the query?

What a wonderful Christmas I am having now that I have found you and your family. I look forward to communicating with you and hopefully seeing you.

Thank you for your respoonse.

My father was Primo Dominic Amadio born in 1898 in Arcade. He had three sisters and a brother. The sisters were Angelica Oliva born 1905, Norina born 1906 and Elena. He had a brother Giovanni born 1901 but he died in 1952. I can find nothing about Elena. My father was the only one that came to the U.S.

The last place my father lived was Nervesa della Battaglia.
Arcade was once a part of Cusignana. Some cousins live in Australia and Canada. I have one cousin who lives in Volpago, which is near Nervesa and Arcade.

I hope your grandmother is my aunt. I look forward to hearing from you. Any information you have would help.

Where did your grandmother live? Where do you live?

Giuseppe Amadio (b. about 1876 - Roma)

Relatively new info about Giuseppe Amadio. He was born in or around Rome about 1876. His father was Eugenio Amadio and his mother was Rosa Corradino (presumably also from Rome). In the early 1900s he was in the US working as a firefighter on the steamships. In Jan. 1904, while living on Columbia St. in Brooklyn, NY, he married Gracie (Grazia) Pacelli and had a child (my grandfather) Eugene Amadio in 1905. They lived on Harrison St. (now Kane I believe) in Brooklyn, NY. We're not sure what happened to her, but he returned to Italy shortly after Eugene's birth. Any connections?

Eugene Amadio

I'm looking for information on Eugene Amadio, born July 31, 1905 died March 5, 1991. He was married to Elma Jones. They had six children: Eugene (Staten Island, NY), Jeanne Carlson (previously Islip/Brentwood, NY, now Newport, NH), Judith Slaight (Stanfordville, NY), Donald (Centereach/Selden, NY), Claudia Toll (Fishkill, NY), and Dennis, my father (previously Holtsville, NY now Melbourne, FL). Eugene and Elma lived in Wilmot, NH for many years. Prior to that they lived in Islip, NY, Franklin, NH, and Brooklyn, NY. I've also heard that he may have changed the spelling from Amaddio to Amadio. Much of this is unknown. Any information would be greatly appreciated. You may contact me at my e-mail address. Thanks!

Eugene/Frank Amadio

This information is in addition to the post above:

Eugene Amadio was born in Brooklyn, NY (lived on Evergreen Avenue?). His father was Frank Amadio, who apparently was a steward on the canard line between Italy and the US. Frank may have lived more permanently in Italy. Frank married Grazia (Grace) Pacilli. She apparently died when Eugene was young, but this information is not certain. Frank or Grazia may have had an brother that owned a barber shop.

AMADIO from Rome to England, New Zeland and USA

My name is Flavio Massimo Amadio, from Rome. I would want to have contacts and to exchange news with other members of this family or theirs descendants emigrated from this city.
I have sure news of the presence of Amadio to Rome since the beginning of 1700 to today but I do not know which are my possible relatives between those that they live currently still here.
Moreover I have discovered a relationship with a Fortunato Giuseppe Luigi Amadio who around to 1840 is emigrated in England (Northampton); Fortunato’s descendants are then emigrated in New Zeland and finally in the U.S.A. where today some of they live.
I would wish to reconstruct the history of the Amadio lastn ame that comes a Rome and to find my relatives here and in other countries. Please, you write to me with every useful news (possibly in Italian because my English is not good). Thanks

fmacom@tin.it
Italy, Rome
Guiseppe Amadio - Brooklyn, NY 1920

Hey. Does anyone know who this Guiseppe is? I found him in the 1920s census and wonder if he is the one I am looking for. This is the information:

age 40, living at 243 Van Brunt St. Brooklyn (Kings County) NY, single, came to US in 1905, trade=longshore, industry=stewador (or something similar...can't make it out). We believe my Guiseppe was a steward and probably went back to Italy.

Amaddio

I have updated info about my grandfathers' family. I'm told they came from Naples, Italy. And according to my grandfather's birth certificate and the 1920 Census, his name was spelled Eugene Amaddio. Therefore, it is quite likely the family name before this (we believe Frank Amaddio was his father) was also spelled with two D's. Frank was a steward on the ships between NY and Italy and did not live in the US. We believe he had another family in Italy. Eugene, in 1920, lived with his mother's family on 44 North Portland Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. His mother, Grazia (Grace) Pacelli either died when he was young or ran off. Eugene lived with his uncle, Joseph Pacelli (then 37) and Joseph's wife Viola (then 30). Also living with them was Joseph's parents Frank and Jennie (then 74 and 70). My family also tells me that Eugene had cousins (presumably Pacellis) that owned a barbershop, a fruitstand, and one was a detective. Let me know if you have any connection. Thanks.

Joseph Amaddio-Naples, Italy

Some updates: Joseph Amaddio was the father of Eugene (Eugenio) Amadio (Amaddio). NOT Frank. This is verified by Eugene's Social Security Application. Joseph was a steward on the ships between the US and Italy and we're pretty sure he was from Naples, Italy. He did not stay in the US and might have other family in Italy. Eugene's mother was Grace Pacelli. Joseph would have been born sometime around 1880-85, as would Grace. Eugene was born in 1905 in Brooklyn, NY. E-mail me at DeanAmadio@aol.com if there's any possible connection. Thanks.
