ok just a little history,father-charles sr. his bothers are/were james,richard,sister carolyn.their father/mother john&excell once again don't know if spelling is correct,i know that my grandmothers sister is still living in ny her name ida(johnson).i know we have relations in philly:sonny amaker thats all i know for now,i've heard that there are a set of white and black amakers.ok just a little info to get things started if you can relate get on the board!also my mothers madian name walker from spartenburg sc,i know she had bother dean sister patrice i married d.pearson if it help.

I am trying to find relatives of Nora Amaker of Elloree. Do not know her husband's name, but it could have been Jacob. She did have a son named Jacob. She also had a daughter, Ida who married a Boatwright. Nora's full name may have been Elnora or Lenora. Nora was full Cherokee. If anyone knows of Nora, please contact me. I am searching for my Auntie Theresa's great grandmother. My Auntie is 80 years old and has been unable to find her great grandmother's maiden name. Her name was Nora Amaker. Her daughter, Ida Amaker Boatwright was Theresa's grandmother. Theresa's mother, Mazie, was Ida's eldest child, reportedly sired by a slave master with the surname of Rickenbacker.
Nora Amaker was 94 when she died on January 24, 1934. She was living in Elloree at the time of death. The death certificate lists no parents or name of a husband, though it does say she was a widow.
If anyone can help, I would appreciate it greatly.

married Isaac Bush. Her family originated in Orangeburg, S. C. and later moved to Saluda County, S. C. She had a sister named Marcells who married Isaiah Smith they lived in Saluda County, S.C.

I was borned and reared in North, SC to Marion C. Amaker, Sr, and the late Ethel L. (Colter) Amaker. I have three other sisters and six brothers. I have a sister that lives in Batesburg, SC, and a sister that lives in Goose Creek, SC, and two brothers that lives in North, SC, a brother that lives in the Hilton Head area of SC, and a brother that lives in Chattanooga, TN, I live in Detroit,as well as, another sister and two brothers.

"Mrs. Lessye L. Amaker, 65, a resident of Tampa for several years, died yesterday in a local hospital. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Annice Torres, 2921 Coachman Ave., with whom she made her home prior to entering the hospital, and Mrs. Louisa McDonald, of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. J. Austin Shaffer, Tampa, and a brother, A. R. Phillips, of Greenville, S. C."

Mary Ann Amaker Bush had a sister Marcella Amaker Smith (husband Isaiah Smith); she was born in Saluda County. I don't know where Mary Ann was born. I believe this family originated in Orangeburg, S. C. Would love to hear from anyone who might know something about this family.
