all i know is that josephine, mary and angelo(also known as charles) amara came from catania, sicily and settled in long island, new york. their father, carmelo was buried in kings county(brooklyn), ny and had been a marble worker.

ok, the kate(born abt. 1910) that i have was the daughter of carmelo(1880-1968) and giovana(1885-1956) amara/amaro. she had 7 brothers and sisters; charles, natale, josephine, james, angelo, mary and theresa. kate married otto hirsch.

Catherine Amara I am thinking of lived in upstate New York (Utica or Rochester) and later moved to Chicago, in the early 1920s. She is buried in Rochester, New York. Is this the same one?

my grandfather paul amara had mentioned to me at one time a kate amara in our family from a long time ago. i believe that she would have been the daughter or sister of carmello amara. if you have carmello in your lineage, i would like to hear from you...dave flareau...(moms maiden name is amara)
