Grandpop joined the Navy.
He sold the farm to his brother. Seems there is a Lonnie
name in ther somewhere. He never went back to Texas.
My grandfather was William Jefferson Amason. He resided
in Huntsville Tx. He sold his farm. He joined the Navy.
He never returned. He got jilted by a red head. His
mother I believe was Elizabeth. They were from Alabama
to Texas. Names I have heard in the family are Lonnie,
Elizabeth. I believe they called him Jeff .
Hi Earlene,

Elisha Amason, whose wife was Arianne or Arry Ann, was brother of my 2nd ggrandfather, Rufus. So WOW!! You found something I definitely need.

Arianne had a daughter whose surname was Brent....so could be either spelling.

I've always believed Arianne was a Rachels, and also believe Rufus' wife, Mary Ann, was a Rachels. Mary Ann was the widow of an unknown Sullivan when she married Rufus.
I believe Mary Ann and Arianne were sisters......and later, as widows, at the time of the 1880 census, they were living in adjacent HH's.

I'm now wondering if you can find a marriage record for Arianne (of any spelling) Hussey (surname of Arry Anne's first husband....OR as Arry Anne Sullivan (supposed name of 2nd husband) when she married to a Brent or Brant/Brandt)?? Arry Anne/Arianne was not a common given name.....

Please contact me directly Sandy Nigh amasonancestors7 AT cableone.net

While visiting the Monroe, AL courthouse recently, I found a marriage record for Elisha Amason and Arry Ann Brant, married 1 Jan 1857, at the home of Arry Ann Brant, security was Bryant Rachels. A minister married them, but the name was hard to read, possibly John T. Bayles, MG.

Chester was the one who discovered my grandmother's body after she passed away in her sleep.
He disappeared after the funeral and may have moved to Eagle Rock, CA.
I think he had a son who was a Marine.
Is the same person?

There was more than one Benjamin Amason/Amerson in N.C. There was also more than one Uriah Amason/Amerson in Georgia and later Alabama.

Ann/Nancy/Mary Amason was the daughter of my 3rd ggrandfather, Uriah Amason. She married Benjamin T. Porter (or maybe Peter B. Porter, or B.T. and P.T. may have been same person). Ann/Nancy/Mary (Amason) Porter died in Alabama, some time after 1853 and before the 1860 census was taken.

I have found Benjamin T. Porter and family in the 1860 census, but have been unable to determine the location of his family in 1870 and later.

I share info.

Hi Angela,
You have tapped into my Montgomery County, Alabama Amason family. This is a distant branch of my family.
Yes, Francis Cullen Amason (b. c. 1878 in Montgomery Co. AL) married Amanda Maude Beatty (b. Jul 1876 in Alabama).
Children were
1) Francis Gilbert Amason (b. Oct 1898 in AL)
2) Wilburn C. Amason (b. c. 1906 in AL)
3) Lois M. Amason (b. c. 1910 in AL)
4) F. Marion (b. c. 1914 in AL)
This family lived in Blount Co. Alabama at the time of the 1900 and 1910 censuses and in Jefferson Co. Alabama at the time of the 1920 and 1930 censuses.
Francis Cullen Amason's parents were Francis Marion Amason (b. c. 1841 in AL) and first wife, Martha Jane Yon (d. shortly after 1880). Francis Marion Amason remarried in 1883 to Sarah Elizabeth Fannin. The family then moved to Blount Co. AL from Montgomery Co. AL.
Francis Marion Amason's parents were Benjamin Amason and Elizabeth Gardiner.
Hope that fills in the blanks!!
Sandy Nigh
Coordinator of the AMASON * AMERSON FAMILY Website at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~amasonamerson/

George W. Amason and wife Mary Wilkerson

Would like information as to the George W. Amason Family. His wife, Mary Wilkerson is a twin sister to my great grandfather, William Marshall Wilkerson. Both William and Mary were born in Jackson County, Alabama on October 27, 1863. We do not know where Mary and George were married. We found George Amason and two daughters working at the Phoenix Cotton Mills in Nashville in 1898. Those two daughters were Fannie and Maggie. The family was listed on the census here in Nashville in 1900, living at 1812 Clinton Street, just west of downtown. Those listed were George and wife Mary. Children listed were: Fannie, Maggie Mary, William, Effie and Dorcas. I believe Dorcas was born here in Nashville on January 8, 1898.
In 1910, we found the same family living in Wittich Township, Franklin County, Arkansas. They were minus the three oldest daughters and had added two new children to the family, those being, a son, Columbus and a daughter, Ruby. The family was found living in Ontario Township, San Bernardino, California in 1920. A search of the 1930 census has come up empty except, for a Charles C. Amason living in San Bernardino. We would like to know when and where George W. and his wife Mary went. Any help with this family would be deeply appreciated.

I have been trying to find out if he was the son of Chester Columbus Amason, born in Arkansas. I've tracked this George W. Amason and his wife, Mary Wilkerson to California and thought maybe I could find someone that knew about this family.

Amason Descendants

A relative of mine, Clara Patterson, married Thomas Amason and settled in Merkle, Texas. They had at least two children, Baylor and Joe. I believe that Baylor lived in Dallas. (Both Joe and Baylor are deceased). If any of this rings a bell, please contact me at joepat@pacifier.com
