I'm wondering if there are any members doing research on any Ambers (or Ambrose or Ambrosio) family that has roots in Kentucky. Do you have any information on an uncle, brother, etc of one of your ancestors who left Kentucky for Hawaii? It's a stretch, but maybe you heard "Well, cousin so and so went to Hawaii so we don't know much about him" If that is the case it may be my mystery ancestor William Ambers.
