Hello, I don't have any info that you need, but you might have some that I need. I am doing my family tree and I am looking for anything on my great grandfather Eddie Ambers. His name may have been Edward, but I don't know. He had my grandmother Dorothy Ambers by Mary Seaberry. I don't know if they were married or not. If you have any information that may help me, please respond.

-Darshonia

Brown "Sonnie" AMBERS

I am trying to trace a family with the name of AMBERS. Brown Ambers came to PA from Mississippi in the late 1930s. According to census, his parents are John Henry AMBERS and Kathryn "Katie" Britton. Brown Ambers obit says he was born in Greensburg, Mississippi. I found no such town. There is a Greensburg, Louisiana. Anyhow, do these people or places sound familiar to anyone? Any help or suggestions on where to look would be most appreciated.
Chris Painter
Marietta, OH
Rev. George L. Ambers, b. @ 1846, d. Mar. 8, 1894

Passed over the River

Died--At his residence, two miles from Earlington on Thursday afternoon, 8th inst., at one o'clock, Rev. Geo. L. AMBERS, in the forty-eighth year of his age. Mr. AMBERS was well-known in and about Earlington, being an employe of the St. Bernard Coal Company, and a local preacher, and a member of the M.E. Church in this city. He was a zealous worker in the cause of the Master, a very sympathetic man, one who rarely ever spoke in public that tears did not stain his cheeks, so great was his emotional nature wrought upon. He was a man that had his friends as well as his opposers, but always seemed to do his best wherever an opportunity was offered. When not attending the services of his own church or some house of worship in the city, he was almost sure to be engaged in proclaiming the word on the Sabbath day in some of the neighboring towns. Norwithstanding his physical weakness and the great disadvantage he labored under, he was a faithful man. When called upon to face the grim monster, all was peaceful, though he suffered intensely during his brief illness of eleven days, but living with that dread disease, pneumonia fever.
A wife and two step-children are left to mourn his demise, and his remains were laid to rest in the Earlington cemetery, on Friday, at twelve o'clock.
Rev. T.C. PETERS will preach the funeral on the 4th Sunday in May.
In the language of the prophet of old: "Let me die the death of the righteous, and may my last end be like his." (Source: Earlington (Ky.) Bee, Thur., Mar. 15, 1894) note: I have no relationship to this family - Am merely posting items of genealogical value from the Hopkins Co., Ky. newspapers of the 1890's. prb

Benjamin Ambers

I have some further information......Benjamin's mother was a Mattie (or Mittie) O'Mary, born in Wail Station, Fentress County, Tennessee, in 1867. My understanding thus far is that she married Grief Ambers (also of Wail Station), who was born in 1862. No marriage date or other information at this time.
Separate family? My father, Roy Alvin Ambers, was the son of Benjamin Ambers and Isabell Patton(family of Ky. Gov. Patton) of Cumberland Co., Tennessee. Next to nothing is known of Ben Ambers. My father had brothers and sisters; Leo, Millie(Minnie), Pauline, Edward, and John. Most of this family moved to the Casey Co., Ky. area and dispersed from there. If you know of any connection, especially to Benjamin, please advise. Likewise, if I find anything I think may be of interest to you I will notify.

Family of Ben(jamin) Ambers

I'm trying to find information on my paternal grandfather, Benjamin Ambers. I believe he was from Tennessee, probably Cumberland Co. He married my grandmother, Isabell (Patton) Garrett around 1910, as my father, Roy Alvin Ambers was born Aug. 22, 1911, in Casey Co., Ky. Shortly thereafter they moved back to Cumberland Co. where my aunts and uncles were born. Those were Edna, Minnie, Edward, John...and I may be missing some names. At some point then my grandfather disappeared and is said to never have been heard from again. This is all I know of Ben. Any help would be greatly appreciated. sndambers@juno.com
