I am trying to trace my paternal grandfather's father. His mother was an Ambler married to a Sheard. Her name was Kezia Ambler born 8/4/1852, died 1938 - Florida. She had a brother Anthony - b. 3/4/1850 - brother who died as a teenager, sister Maria who married a Guthrie & a sister Annie who married a Tempest. My grandfather was born in Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire, and his mother worked the cotton mills there until she came to Canada in approx. 1908. Kezia had 5 children - Herbert Sheard, Clara Sheard (Wilson), Edith Sheard (Fielding), Kate Sheard (Smith) Mary Kathleen Sheard (Wilson). Herbert and Mary Kathleen both came to Canada - Herb in about 1909 and not sure about Mary Kathleen. We haven't been able to find anything out about either Kezia or the Sheard she was married to. He either was dead before she came to Canada or didn't come here. We know that on my grandfather's attestation papers for enlistment the next of kin is listed as a Mrs. Walton, we know that Kezia must have married a man named George Walton as he showed up after her death in Florida and spent the rest of his years in the Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital in Toronto. Any help would be appreciated.
