Surnames: Ambler Family from Lincolnshire
Hi, I'm researching my Grandmother's Ambler family which seems to originate from Lincolnshire (at least as far back as I've been able to get so far) and would like to hear from anyone else who has my ancestors in their tree:
Richard Ambler b. c 1690
Richard Ambler b. Bardney 1739
William Ambler b. Bardney 1768
Edward Ambler b. Boultham 1799
John Ambler b. Lincoln 1834
John Edward Ambler b. Everton 1861
John's brother William b. 1830 moved to Sheffield, so I know there's a branch of the family there. Family legend has it that the Ambler's originally came over from France in 1066! Not sure how much truth there is in that one though!
Regards,
Helen
