Just caught your query on the RootsWeb surname board for Ambs (my Ambs were from Buffalo, NY so no relation). Regarding your question about your Rosa Ambs' correct mother's name: her marriage license in one of the most accurate references for such information (people sign it themselves when they get married, so it's right 9 times out of 10). Your Rosa's parents, according to the LDS records I just looked up for you signed their names as follows:

In addition, the first 5 of their 7 children have that name for the mother down correctly, as shown on her marriage license. (The last two children, your Rosa and her younger sister Sophia, mistakenly have the mother's name reversed. There's a reasonable explanation for that: I'll bet that, as was very common in Germany, all of Maria Anna Moll's sisters also had the first name of Maria ~ and all of (Johann) George Ambs' brothers probably had the first name Johann. They would have been called by their middle names. So, Maria Anna Moll may very likely have been called Anna, and Johann George Ambs was called George. Given the very real possibility that your Maria Anna was called Anna, the mistake on the Christening record for her last two children becomes understandable).
