There is a good chance that William Amer was the father of our William Amer born 1835 in Bromham, Wiltshire and brother to Charles. There is a two year difference in age. I would estimate that Cold Ash is less than 5 miles from Midgham and both places only about 50 miles from Bromham. William's daughter Emily was married to my ggrandfather
John Jones in 1881, William was a witness on the cert, he being 46 at the time. In an autobiography John's son Herbert (born 1895) said his father and Emily (Amer) visited Scranton and Easton Pennsylvania on a good number of occasions to visit his sister Hannah (Randall)
You can contact me by E-mail at reverendvox.demon.co.uk. I have details of William's family in Monmouthshire on census' and will willingly exchange details and do all I can in the way of research, etc.
All the best

Brenda Jones
