I have traced my Amery family to Stogumber, Somerset where John Amery was born in 1811 (and also his wife, Grace Scott b. 1806). They had a number of children (Eleanor, John, George, Joseph, Mary and Mark) who, I believe, remained in the Stogumber area for the next 2 generations before moving to the Bristol area.
