Many thanks for all the information. I rang my researcher today and have now posted all the information you have given me, on to him. He will look into everything and see what he can find out. If you can come up with details of the will of Richard's father (year, date etc), he will be able to obtain a copy. Also if you have any information on the "House" family this might help to establish a connection between us, if there is one.

I live in East Sussex on the south coast of England and am also retired. I have been researching the family tree for some years but came to a brick wall with Richard Amey. Although Dorset is not too far away, it has still been necessary to employ researchers.
