Hi Hazel, My Martha and Rachel had a brother Richard listed as born circa 1765. We have no other information so I can only assume that the researcher my mother employed was convinced he belonged because she was a stickler for proof.
Their parents were Robert Amey and Martha Shitler married at Tincleton 1764. The first 2 children are listed as c 1765.
Children - William c 1765 married Betty Austin 1791
Mary c 1765 married a Mr Stanfield 1792
Richard circa 1765
Martha c1767 married William Ayres 1788
Thomas c1770 married Mary 1792
Robert c 5/10/1770 married Susanna Salisbury 1791. Their great grandson started the Amey Roadstone Company,
John c 19/8/1773 d 1807
Joseph c 19/8/1773
Frances b 3/11/1776 married William Lewis 17/11/1796
Rachel 3/2/1782
All children whose place of birth is mentioned were born/christened at Puddletown. Some of the family lived at Puddletown until at least 1838 when Betty Austin died.
I can find no mention of Langton in the towns associated with my family or of Blandford.
I am descended from Robert Amey senior's Uncle Robert. All Ameys mentioned are descended from John Amye and Mary Bartlet who married at West Stafford in 1694.
I hope we can find a connection. Our family tree now consists of over 580 descendents of John and Many. Richard is one of the blanks. Do you know when he died? the 1841 Census has limitations but he seems to have died before them.
