Can you please reveal the Amick lineage if possible back from my GrGrandpa Wm Amick to the PA Peter Amicks or other lines?
William Henry Harrison Amick:
nickname "Little Bill"
b.1852-56, d. 1930's
buried Scottsburg Cemetery, Scott County, IN
born in Scott County, In
1rst married: Margaret Alice Deal, b.1860, d.1890, buried rural cem. Scott Cnty, IN
1rst wife's parents: Charles Deal-CiviL War Veteran and Eliza Cranford known as "Granny Cranford".
Little Bill's father: oral legend says named Henry/William Amick who abandoned his wife and child and went to the California goldfields-never seen again.
Little Bill's mother is said to be a Minerva/Mariah Kimberlin who was arrested after abandoned by her husband for attacking her father John Kimberlin with an ax. I was sent photocopies of the jail records in Scott county of her being jailed for 3 months and the bills for cleaning her clothes while in jail. The jail was the old log cabin built by the Kimberlins as an Indian defense blockhouse.
Little Bill was sent to live with an area farmer who raised him; during Civil War raid of Rebel Gen. Morgan-he hid horses in the woods.
No known siblings of Little Bill, although some online have alluded to Little Bill having a brother in Missouri.
Little Bill's kids by first wife Margaret Alice Deal include Charles Amick-medical doctor in N. Indiana, Grace Edith Amick nee Schmitz, Georgiana Amick nee Davis, a brother who was World War 1 Veteran, two other siblings.
Little Bill remarried in Scottsburg, IN. and had 6 more kids, including another Grace, Homer, Harold and 3 more. There are descendants of this second family still living in Scottsburg, IN.
Hope this lets you pin it down somewhat. Charlesbschmitz@gmail.com
