She was the wife of Harry Ammann; mother of Clifford (Mary Anne) Ammann and the late Douglas Ammann; grandmother of Steve (Tina), Wendy (Bob), Heather, Justin (Amanda) and Breyann; five great-grandchildren; and sister of Harry (Audrey) Schultz. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227, Funeral prayer at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Winifred Church.

This was my grandfather, who was born near Cincinatti, Ohio, in 1894. The census info says that his father came from France. That is all I have. I don't know if Allen had any brothers, but would love to hear about them. I have heard that the family came from the Alsace Lorraine region, now a part of France.

Looking for information about Franz D. Ammann born Switzerland, immigrated to US as of 1922 & was living in Detroit, Michigan as of 1930 where he was a sheet metal worker. He married Ruby Barnes? & by 1930 they had at least 2 children: Nellie V. (born @ 1926) & Franz D. Jr. (born @ 1928). Franz & his family may have lived in Pennsylvania about 1928. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The mysterious disappearance of Lorenz Ammann

Lorenz Ammann was born in Wuertemberg, Germany in 1835. The surname Ammann sometimes appears as Amann with one 'm'.
He appears in the Cincinnati, OH directories in the mid 1860's, along with a brother, Phillip Ammann. Both were maltsters. (I suspect Joseph Ammann, who appears in Cincinnati at the same time may have been another brother, but I cannot make the connection).
The next record I can find for Lorenz is in 1873 when he returns from Germany to the States on the ship Main. He married the widow Bertha Schirmer Klenk in Buffalo, NY in the mid 1870's and moved his new family to Cincinnati. Bertha had four children when they married.
Lorenz and brother Phillip appear again in the Cincinnati directories starting in 1877, the year his son Albert Ammann was born .The family appears in the 1880 census in Cincinnati.
Family legend says he could not find work in Cincinnati so he returned alone to Buffalo and was never heard from again. I have been unable to find a record of him anywhere after the 1880 census, not even a death or burial record. Did he indeed go back to Buffalo? If so, I cannot find any records placing him there. Perhaps back to Germany, abandoning his family? Did he change his name to escape his family? Did he accompany his brother Phillip when he and his family moved to Toledo? I can find no indication he was in Toledo, either.
His wife Bertha appears alone in the early 1880's city directories. In 1884 Bertha appears in the Cincinnati directory as 'widow'. Could it be that he died in the early 80's and his young son was told he went away instead of being told the truth of his death?
I would like to hear from anyone who may know what happened to Lorenz Ammann, or who may have any clues to his disappearance.

I am a decendant of the Ammann tree, and my mother's mother married into the Ammann family. I am having trouble finding information about a Frank David Ammann son of Robert Ammann.

Robert had several siblings, Patrick, Ida, Joh, or William.

If you have any leads I would appreciate them.

CONRAD AMMANN - 1831 Laubach, Rhineland, Germany

am descended from Conrad Amman, German and his wife Elisabeth who came from the Swedish border of Germany.

My great great grandfather born 1831 in Laubach, Rhineland, Germany - emigrated and then became an American citizen in 1868, settling and passing on in 1925 Decatur, Illinois. He married a woman named Elisabeth who was born in 1826.

They had five children. One of whom was my great grandfather William G. Ammann born 1862 (he was a printer) married to Cora Brooks. One of their sons William Brook Ammann (he was a printer) married Blanche Lee and they had three kids, one of whom was my father William Brook Ammann (he was a printer too!!) to me, Kitty.

My name is Pete Staub. I live in Silver Spring, Md. I have been trying to find relatives of my mother in law, Helen Neale. Her maiden name was Helen Barbara Ammann. Her Grandfather was Robert Ammann and his wife was named Laura. They lived in Seat Pleasant, Md. The children names I have discovered are Frank David, Robert Isaiah,Nellie E., Clyde E., Ida E., Lorrie M., John Arnold and William A. I knew William A.: "Bill" who worked for PEPCO and lived in Hyattsville, Md.
My mother in laws father was Robert Isaih and his wifes name was Pauling Helen Brooke.

This is all I know at this time. I Would like to know if you know more?

My gggrandfather Lorenzo Ammann b. Switzerland and wife Mary Seraphime (Susanah) b.Hamburg, Germany, and a brother came from Switzerland. Settled in Minnesota. Two children were born: Louise b.1870 and Alfred. By 1880, he and his brother had built a brewery in Santa Rosa, California.(they are in the census and I have photos of their home). By 1883 my gggrandmother and two sons had passed away. By 1898 the brother also passed and gggrandfather remarried, sold the brewery to Grace Brothers and went back to Switzerland. He passed away 1900. My ggrandmother, Louise married John W. Short in 1884. They had three daughters. The youngest being my grandmother, Myrtle, who married Chas. Edward Lownes. They had three daughters, the first being Evelyn, my mother. Anyone finding any of this familiar please reply. Thank you.

Why would the Ammann's have an account which was set up by "Jewish" Holocaust victims? I am under the impression that the Ammann's were of a Christian persuasion...not that it matters one way or another to me. How do you validate your message that you left me? My great grandmother was Henrietta Ammann,she was married to Henry Riemenschneider. While researching these family trees,I discovered there are unclaimed swiss bank accounts,& unclaimed property these families are entitled to claim. No,I am not joking,these funds include accounts that were established by jewish families during the holocaust. I was wondering if you might be able to help locate the heirs to these missing bundles. I am looking for info on mygreatgrandfather parents and his children. His name is Joseph Ivas Aman. Sometimes he went by Judge Ivas or J. I. On most of records that I founded they were J. I. most on his marriage record. He was born April 1862 in Alabama died feb. 11,1911 in Leon Co. He came from Alabama when he was a boy and got to Calvert texas where his mother died with the fever and they buried her there with all the others tha thad the fever and died. He married a the first time to a Josephine and the lived in Leon Co Texas. They had two children Joseph Lemuel and my grandmother Nancy(Nannie) Jane who was born Feb.7,1886 in Leon Co. Josephine died 21 days after she was born. Joseph then married Susan Ann Baker Hunecut on March 8,1888 in Leon Co. Texas( On the marriage record it shows a J. I. Aman and Susan Hunecut.) They had children by the name of Rose Stella,Ella(Ellie),Margaret(Maggie),Bettie,Elie Coy,Aldonia E. and Dora B. Any help will be very greatful. Thanks Yvonne

"Ammann" is the Swiss spelling, similar to the German spelling "Amann", of a title for the town mayor. So likely your ancestor far back was a mayor somewhere and he must have thereafter "adopted" the name permanently.

I have listed the history of my own family in the Amann surname board. The Amann families lived mainly in Germany but also in Austria and eastern France. Ammann was more common in Switzerland.

Andrew Ammann died in Denver, Colorado in 1907. He is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetary. He was married to Johanna Feusi. They came to Denver in 1880. After Andrew died, Johanna married a man named Butterfass.
I'm just getting in to the geneology stuff. My dad & aunt have a lot more information. Andrew had several children, one of which was Alphons Amman. He had a son Hubert Alphonse Amman. He was my grandfather. His son Lawrence Hubert Amman is my father.

Not sure if your ANNA MARIA AMMANN is my Ggrandmother, but my great grandparents, Jacob and Anna Marie {Ammann-maiden name} Lemp came here from Bern Switzerland around 1890 with my grandmother,Rosa Marie,and her brothers, Arnold Lemp and Ernest Lemp. I just find out my Ggrandmother's name so I don't have any dates or anything else to share about them but I have tons to share if this is your Anna...about the generations since they came to America.

Please folks if you read the message prior to this, this information is just not true. I met my father thru using this site. He never received anything from the author of the previous email because he keeps his where 'bouts unknown. I am aware of his email and in fact my dad doesn't even own a computer. Don't believe everything you read. You might suggest to the webmaster that they remove the emails that were generated in a personal manner. I have asked several times and they are left to be posted in a "non genealogical" fashion. Just so you knew...I found my dad and she can't contact him. Don't inhibit others from their searches.

Andrew (Adreas) Ammann

My great grandfather was Andrew (Andreas) Ammann, born 1844 in Switzerland to Johanna Feusi. I would like to obtain information from anyone with a connection or link to this family line (i.e. names, dates of and placesof birth, etc). Andrew settled in Denver, Colorado in the mid-1800's, and was self employed as a boot maker. He had a son, Alphons who was born in 1884. Alphons dropped the last "n" in the family name, which I restored.

My GG-grandfather is Herman E Ammann Sr., who migrated at the age of 18 from Ulm, Germany on August 1, 1846. He married Cecelia Beeler and they had ten children. I can send a bit more information. I really would like to have a better Pedigree line for my ancestors and perhaps you can help me.
