Auman-Orman DNA Project

I would like to invite anyone with any of the varient spellings of the names Auman-Orman to join the Auman-Orman FamilyTreeDNA Project. Please go to https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=M11677&... to purchase a DNA kit.

The main goal for this project is to help sort out all the Auman-Orman, Ahman, Aman, Amen, Amin, Ammon, Ammond, Arman, Armon, Awman, Ehrman, Oerman, Ohman, Ormond and all other variant spellings of the same name. Our objective is a standard one, to help any and all with the variant spellings of Auman-Orman to find missing family branches and to help point them in the right direction.

Y-chromosome DNA testing needs to be done by a male with the surname of Auman-Orman or one of the other variant spellings. The Y-chromosome is only carried by males and is passed from father to son. If you are a female researcher of this name, you will need to find a brother, father, uncle or cousin with one of Auman-Orman surname spellings to test for you.

I've posted this message in over 21 boards for different spellings of the same name on Ancestry alone.

If you have already tested with another DNA testing company, please email me and you can still join the project at our new website http://aumanorman.familydna.net/

There is an Ammons man descended from Jacob Aman b 1654 d 1725 Switzerland who tested with SMGF who is a 24/25 match to my Auman Orman's of Randolph Co NC. I would love to make contact with him. My email is knowse @ bellsouth dot net. Please feel free to contact me.

Ammon Family

I'm looking for decendents of Issac Ammon. He was born in Virginia 18 April 1817. He moved to Champaign County Ohio and married Sarah Pence on 1 August 1839. They had 2 children Issac and Mary. His wife died 8 June 1853. He then married Hannah Long 13 Oct 1853. She died a short while later. He married her sister Rebecca 13 March 1856.

I don't know if he had children by the last two wives.

He died 20 Dec 1891 and is buried in St Paris, Ohio in the Spring Grove cemetery.

I have 2 different stories on his father. I tend to believe that he was Peter Ammon of Rockingham Virginia, who married Elizabeth Rinehart but have no proof.

Any help that I can get would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is wilgin@bright.net

Thanks
Ginger

Seek information on Daniel Ammon, b. PA about 1805-1807.
He married Catherine and they appear in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses in Steubenville, Jefferson County, Ohio.

I believe they had at least one son Samuel H. Ammon, born 1835, who is buried in Columbus Ohio.

This family may have connections to Lewisburg, Union County PA and Indiana County PA. I believe Daniel's wife was Catherine Dodson, daughter of John and Rachel (Robertson or Robinson) Dodson, both of whom died in Homer City, Indiana County PA.

Please email me.

Ammon families in Switzerland

My late father-in-law, Emil Ammon, was born in Herzogonbuchsee in Canton Bern, Switzerland in 1902. His father was also named Emil Ammon. His mother died when he was small (name unknown). His father married twice more and had a son with each wife. There are relatives in Basel and Zurich, that we know of. I am trying to find some family history for my husband and our children. I am looking for anyone who may have links to this Ammon family or other related folk from this region. Please post here or e-mail me at...
ammon01@aol.com

Thank you!
...Karen Ammon
Wisconsin, USA

Emile Ammon

Emile Ammon born 1871 Paris, France - butcher. Had 2 brothers Charles who left Paris and moved to England, and Henry who came to Canada then returned to France. Henry's son later came to the US and bought an orange grove in Florida. Can anyone connect with this? This Emile Ammon married Angline Nevrgne (or Neville) in Paris and moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in the late 1800's. He died in 1927. I have a list of the children if anyone is interested... (His father is written down as being Emile also - born possibly in Switzerland in the 1800's - was a swiss clockmaker)

Rollin Ammon(s) b:1884 - d:1969

I am seeking leads to ancestry of Rollin Ammon or Ammons, born 1884 somewhere, died 1969 in Bremerton, WA. He had a sister Myra. He married Lula Ada Ranney prior to 1923 in Wisconson, then migrated west in about 1932 with their three children Lucretia (living), Carol (deceased), and Beth (adopted, living).

Lucretia (my grandomther) verifies that the spelling of Rollin is accurate to the best of her knowledge, and his SSDI lists it a such, too, the dates of which Lucretia also can validate. In fact, the only data I can find is his SSDI. That's the problem.

I'm really stuck on this one. Any help would be terrific! If you have any information at all, please contact me.
Thanks-Erin

My father passed a pocket watch on to my brother which has "August Ammon 1848" on it. Supposedly he came to New York from Germany in 1855. August had a son or grandson named Robert (who was my father's grandfather) who lived on Staten Island, NY around 1900. Robert had a wife named Winifred McLoughlin who came from out west. Robert had either a brother or an uncle or both named Franklin Ammon. I know very little about this branch of my family. If anyone has information, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you,
Susan

JOHN GODFREY AMMON - Hessian.

This being the AMMON Board, I have not seen this Hessian
soldier/settler mentioned by anyone. Please let me introduce
him to you, perhaps he is the missing link in your tree.
GOTTFRIED AMMON, later called John Godfrey, was a Hesse-Hanau Chasseur (Jaeger), who served his duty in Canada during the American Revolution. He was
born 1758/59 in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, and was discharged in Quebec in July 1783. In 1796 he petitioned
for a land grant and he did receive 300 acres in the Western District of Upper Canada, in Southwold/Suffolk/Middlesex County. It is not known if and/or when he married, and if he had descendants.
I found on page 250 of Vol. I of Trinity Lutheran Church records 1730 to 1767
the following: Marriage, Conrad Kurtz, miller, single, from
Adelmansfelden, married Juliana Ammonin, single, on Dec. 26, 1756.
I understand from other researchers that the "in" at the end of a name denotes female. This would mean that the true familly name was Ammon.

Does anyone knoy what happened to this women? In York County records after about 1860 or so Conrad was married to an Elizabeth?

Keith Kurtz

Mary, daughter of Christopher Ammon

Mary Ammon/d, daughter of Christopher Ammon/d married (John) Peter Kyger in Rockingham County, Virginia. Marriage bond dated March 31, 1823.

Bondsmen: Peter Kyger and Henry Pence (John Peter Kyger's half brother-in-law)

Mary died before 1870 in Rockingham County.

I THINK Mary is the granddaughter of Jacob Runkle mentioned in the following court record.

Scots-Irish in Virginia, Vol. 2

CHRONICLES OF THE Scotch-Irish Settlement IN VIRGINIA EXTRACTED FROM THE ORIGINAL COURT RECORDS OF AUGUSTA
COUNTY 1745-1800
CIRCUIT COURT RECORDS, SECTION "I."
JUDGMENTS.
page 187
Ammon vs. Runkle--O. S. 243; N. S. 85--Will of Jacob Runkle of Rockingham dated 24th April, 1789. Wife, Mary. Sons and daughters. Sons, Peter, Lewis; grandson, Jacob, son of Peter; daughter, Elizabeth Cislin; daughter, Catherine Harris; daughter. Mary Amon. Recorded in Rockingham 24th October, 1791. Bill by Christopher Amon and Mary, his wife. Jacob Runkle died September, 1791, leaving widow and four children besides oratrix. Elizabeth Ammon, niece of Peter Runkle, deposes. John Haines, grandson of Jacob, deposes. Jacob Rinehart was Peter Runkle's son-in-law. Mary Ammon, granddaughter of Jacob Runkle, deposes.

---------------
This would mean Mary was born at least by 1791.

The 1810, 1820, and 1830 Rockingham County census has a Christopher Ammon. Although the 1820 census has a female child that seems to fit Mary's approxiate age, the 1810 census does not.

A Peter Ammon is also listed in the 1810 and 1820 census.

At any rate, I have the descendants of Mary Ammon Kyger but would love to know with certainty who her parents were. She was my second great-grandmother. Any siblings would be icing on the cake.

Maggie Kyger Miller
