Elizabeth Ammon Grant was my 3rd Great Grandmother, through her son, Robert S. Grant, with huband George Grant Jr. I am trying to sort out Jacob Ammon who I believe was her father. I am also trying to confirm that her mother was "Nancy" and not Maria. Any information you have would be appreciated. I have confirmed information on the Grants after George Grant Jr. that I would be glad to share.

Auman-Orman DNA Project

I would like to invite anyone with any of the varient spellings of the names Auman-Orman to join the Auman-Orman FamilyTreeDNA Project. Please go to https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=M11677&... to purchase a DNA kit.

The main goal for this project is to help sort out all the Auman-Orman, Ahman, Aman, Amen, Amin, Ammon, Ammond, Arman, Armon, Awman, Ehrman, Oerman, Ohman, Ormond and all other variant spellings of the same name. Our objective is a standard one, to help any and all with the variant spellings of Auman-Orman to find missing family branches and to help point them in the right direction.

Y-chromosome DNA testing needs to be done by a male with the surname of Auman-Orman or one of the other variant spellings. The Y-chromosome is only carried by males and is passed from father to son. If you are a female researcher of this name, you will need to find a brother, father, uncle or cousin with one of Auman-Orman surname spellings to test for you.

I've posted this message in over 21 boards for different spellings of the same name on Ancestry alone.

If you have already tested with another DNA testing company, please email me and you can still join the project at our new website http://aumanorman.familydna.net/

There is an Ammons man descended from Jacob Aman b 1654 d 1725 Switzerland who tested with SMGF who is a 24/25 match to my Auman Orman's of Randolph Co NC. I would love to make contact with him. My email is knowse @ bellsouth dot net. Please feel free to contact me.

I have found where the two families are living close together. I have been searching for any information that I can find on Uriah, but have had no luck so far. He should be in the 1850 census, but I can't find any of the family then. If I find anything on him I will let you know.

Sarah

Hi Sarah,
If you check Ancestry.com Censuses, you will see that the Ammon families and the Leeper families are both located in same location of Donora, Washington County, PA. My problem is finding information on Uriah Leeper. He is married to Rachel Dunn. On the 1860 Census -Image # 37 Monongahela City, Carrol Twp., Washington County, PA. Rachel Dunn Leeper and eight children are listed and no Uriah. I have been unable to get any information about his death. He was 40 years old, died in 1858- Donora, Washington County, PA. other than year and place. Do you have any information on him?
Doris Lawrence

Uriah Leeper's parents are:Robert Galloway LEEPER and Mary AMMON. Robert Galloway Leeper's parents are: James LEEPER and Agnes GALLOWAY. Mary AMMON's parents are: Conrad AMMON and Fanny ? (last name unknown). Robert Galloway LEEPER's middle name is his mother's maiden name. Are you trying to find the connection between what two families? I'm confused.
Sincerely,
Doris Butler Lawrence

It does seem that our families are connected somewhere. I am sorry that I have taken this long to reply. Life is busy these days.

Do you know anything about Jacob and Barbara's son Isaac who was born about 1764, so probably in West Manchester, but that's what I'm trying to prove? My ggggg-grandfather was Isaac Almons/Almonds/Amond/Ammons (he probably couldn't spell) of Greene Co., PA, and I think the Isaac Ammon who is the son of Jacob and Barbara Ammon may be him, as they are the most likely suspects, and Jacob's will From Washington Co, PA mentions a son named Isaac. Isaac died December 1820 in Whitely Township, Greene Co., PA. He is also listed in late 1700s tax records as owning land in Bedford Co., which is between York and Washington/Greene Counties.

I have the written history of who Elizabeth Rinehart married and that was John Price. Elizabeth was the Daughter of Jacob L.and Barbara (Runckle Rinehart). Jacob L. Rinehart. Jacob was the child of Leiws R. and Catherine Elizabeth (Walters) Rinehart. Lewis was a long time friend of Barabara Runckles father Peter Runckle. They lived in Rockingham County (Peter and Lewis) and served in Fraziers Company Militia during the Revolutionary War. Jacob and Barbara lived their entire lifes in Rockingham County Virginia and are buried there. There is also a Ludwig Rinehart in Shenandoah Valley that is said too have married a Catherine Valters in the same year as My 5th great grandfather Lewis R. Rinehart. This could also be true due there marriages took place in different states at the time. John Rinehart
