Hello
My wife Sherrie does 99% of the geneology in our family, but I'll pipe in with what I remember. Howard Steven Amon was my great grandfather. My grandfather, Arthur Howard Amon, had a journal which described in very limited detail, that three brothers arrived to North America around 1850. They came in through Nova Scotia. One brother stayed there in Canada. If you search for Amons in Nova Scotia you'll find a number of long lost relatives. Another brother was said to have traveled to the South and never to be heard from again. The third brother traveled to Athena, Oregon then on to Kennewick. There is a documented story about William Reason's older brother being killed by Indians in Southern Idaho during the travels. I don't have any true documentation of The Amon family in Europe, but I remember my grandfather telling me, nearly 50 years ago now, that they came to the new world to escape religious persecution. That they were French Huguenots from the Alsace - Lorraine area between Germany and France. Another memory was that the name was shortened from DeAmon or something of that sort. I hope these threads may help.
My middle name came from my Great Grandmother Belle Roberts who was born in Waitsburg in the 1870's.
Scott Roberts Amon
