Hello Kim. Good to meet you here. It has been quite a while since I have worked on these lines but these last two messages have me looking again. Enough to track down some more info and blow a couple holes in husband Scott's family memories. Maybe he's just off in some details and dates.
It is interesting that your branch of the family has a similar story about three brothers. Scott's grandfather, Arthur Howard Amon, came back from NY to Harrington to visit some of his Harrington relatives while on a honeymoon trip with his NY born wife. Don't know if he shared his story or if it was already known by his relatives.
Take a look at:
http://www.marioncountycemetery.com/mthope/records/display_r... It appears that William Reason Amon's father was known as both Ralph and Reason. As the name Ralph appears in the next 2 generations after him, I suspect it is his true first name. In the 1850 MO Census there is also a James Amon, 30 yrs old, enumerated on the page following the one Ralph is on. Maybe a brother? I also found a Ralph Amon, along with 4 other family members, in the 1838 Wisconsin Territorial Census of an area that Cedar County, Iowa.
Scott and I would love to be able to compare notes with you and your cousin for more family information. Please feel free to forward our info and contact us privately or on these boards.
Thank you,
Sherrie Amon
