Hello all,
Hope someone can help me trace my husband's Amon family. Family story says that three brothers came from somewhere in Europe and ended up in St. Louis. One brother headed North from there and one went south. The third brother was killed in a gambling dispute in a saloon in St. Louis. His wife and children caught a wagon train going west. It is believed that they ended up in the Tri Cities area of Washington State and Umatilla County Oregon. Don't know any more details than that. Some Amon names are Steven, Howard, Alfred, and Arthur. There is a park in Richland WA named after Howard Steven Amon, my husband's great grandfather. I believe his father to be William R. Amon who may have been married three times with children from each marriage. Wife Nellie in 1870's into 1880's and maybe wife Sarah after 1882. May have had sons James and Delbert by a first wife before 1874. Some other siblings or half siblings to Howard/Steven may be Addie C., Emma, William, Annie, Rutha, Alfred. Found Wm. R. Amen and family in 1880 US Census Greasewood, Umatilla Co. OR. Found Alfred Amon and other family members in Kennewick.Benton Co.WA 1910 Census. Obit for Howard S. Amon says he died in Eugene, OR 1940. I would be happy to help fill in any blanks that I can for anyone needing my info. Also interested in Clara Bell Roberts that married Howard/Steven. Hope someone out there can help me fill in our may blanks? Thanks in advance, if so! Sherrie
