Mark Amos son of Thomas Amos, farmer. Married 1852

I have an ancestor, Rose Louisa Robinson, baptized Canterbury 1825, daughter of Thomas Ridout, Surgeon and Jane Wanstall of Herne, and grand daughter of Thomas Ridout and JANE LANSEL of Canterbury. In 1852, she married MARK AMOS, son of THOMAS AMOS, farmer, at St. John's Church, Waterloo Road, South London. Although I have traced the Ridouts I have had no luck with the Amos family either prior to or following the 1852 marriage

Looking for an Albert Amos, who married Olive Maud Hayes in 1908. Married in Shardlow, Derbyshire. Cannot find any previous records for him other than marriage. Rumour that he may have lived in London and 1901 census record lists an Albert Amos living in Ilkeston as a lodger, born in Kentish Town... but not enough supporting evidence to take this as a definite...

Would really appreciate any replies or info that can shed any light on tracing this family member. Thanks

Thank you for your message about Franklin and for offering to ask your dad about him :-)

We managed to find out that Franklin was actually born in Faversham, Kent but it would be great to know what took him to Norwich and about his life there (his son Montague was born in Holt).

Thanks again for your reply and would be great to hear from you if you could help :-) We've not done much research lately so it would be good to get back into it all again.

Amos, Bethel Thomas

Looking for info on Bethel Thomas Amos, born 1872 possibly in Alabama, and died 1934 in Jasper County, Georgia. He married a Olivia (Ollie) Evatt, in 1891 in Etowah County, Alabama. He worked for the railroad and moved around quite a bit - from Alabama, to Mississippi, to Texas, and back to Georgia. They had several children - Daniel, Lee, Winnie, Ward, Eva and Thelma.

Any info would be appreciated.

Lloyd married 3 times, his first wife was Winifred G. Cock in 1924 and they had 3 children,Colin,John and Elizabeth. His second wife was Lily.

Amos' from Elsdon, Northumberland.

The earliest confirmed record I have for my Amos ancestor's is the marriage of John Amos and Elizabeth Grey at St. John Lee, Hexham in 1762. John was born c1727 but I don't know where. I have found him living in the Elsdon area in 1763 and suspect he is related to the line of Amos' from that area. I cannot thought find that connection. I have found a record for a Francis Amos living in West Acomb which was also the home of John at one time and wonder if Francis could be John's son from an earlier marriage or his brother.
Other common family christian names are Andrew, William, Robert, Mary, Elizabeth and possibly Esther.
Does anyone have any connections to any of the above?

I have James Amos on a family tree,It says he was born in Virginia abt 1740,and died in Hart Co Ky.However that is as far back as amos goes..My last name is amos so i am trying to figure out the amos name more than anything,i know james amos had a son named charles amos born in south carolina about 1775,and died in Hart Co,Ky.He has a kid named Albertis Amos,Who had a kid named Marshell Amos,Marshell had a kid named Arthur Amos,who had a kid named william heiser amos.William Heiser Amos is my great grandfather.

Please take a look at my information. Some of my Amos family seems to have nicknames which were generally confirmed by at least two knowledgeable persons. I have many more names, but no James or Jimmy, etc.

Earvin Amos, age 85 of Erie,
died Saturday January 31, 2009 at his residence. The son of the late Austin and Minnie (Murrel) Amos, he was born on April 23, 1923 in Laurel, Mississippi. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Earvin was a veteran of World War II, and received a Victory Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 700. He worked for Dunkirk Radiator and General Electric Company. He also worked for Erie Malleable Iron and retired from there after 23 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Willie Amos, Lee Amos, Benjamin Amos, Ray Amos, Richard Amos and Austin Amos, Jr.; and two sisters, Maxine Amos Vaughn and Lillie Mae Amos Heidelberg. He leaves to cherish his everlasting memories to one sister, Annie Mae Amos Brooks of Detroit, Mich., his loving wife, Alma Lee Nobles Amos; three sons: Jerry (Bo) Prince and his wife, Anne, Clarence Douglas Amos and his wife, May, and Earvin Amos, Jr., and a grandson Brian S. There is a book written by Gertrude Louise Stephens called
"Children of Mt. Soma". This book is very complete with the names of decendants of William Amos. Asa Amos is in the book. If you want to get the book, just seach the book title and it tell you how to obtain it. If you want limited information, I would be please to copy the pages from the book and Email it to you. I am looking for information on a Mary Amos , she was born in Georgia in 1828 , Married a man named John Hayes, they eventually moved to Louisianna, she died in Floyd Louisianna. On line I can find a marriage between the two of them and that is how I assume her last name is Amos. Some relatives feel it may have been Annis since there are members named after that name, but I can find no one to correlate to that name. I am at a brick wall when it comes to her family. The marriage took place near or in Harris Georgia. Her husband and her later moved to Talbot and eventually made their way to Louisianna.

Hi Sandra - thank you so much for sharing the family tree listing Mary Ann Amos.
My Mary Ann looks identical in detail - same birth dates and parents except that she married Henry Thomas in 1868 in Canterbury.
Is it certain that the Mary Ann Amos on the family tree married William Iddenden in Boughton under Blean in 1870?

Amos,Mary Amos James,and Charles Amos.He married Caroline Knapp in 1842. They had 15 Children. Gilbert died 17Sept,1901. His parents were William and Henrietta Boswell Amos.William's father was Reuben, who's father was James, who's father was Framcis, who's father was Francis, who's father was Nicholas. Nicholas's birth is listed to be around 1630-1660. Nicholas is also my 9xG-Grandfather thru the younger Francis's son William Valentine. Therefor that makes us very distant cousins. I hope you get this I may have some information for you about James Amos and Hannah They would have been in Guelph area perhaps and Dundalk and Wellington Ontario I have a Jonette Bayden or Janet Bryden many different names for the same person born to James Amos and Hannah ?? we should compare what we have she married a Wellwood and i think the year of birth for her is about 1860 and parents about 1830 does this connect up with you have some other information thanks Karen k.chb@hotmail.com
