Re: Canadian Amsbary connection

The Amsbary line in the United States is well documented from about the time of the Revolution. Ruby Coleman a investigator of the line says prior to William the family name was Ormsby.

HOWEVER,I found evidence that an Amsbary arrived in Mass about 1640 and later lived Rehoboth, Mass and many children were babtised at a church there. I went to Rehoboth but found only a suburb of Prov RI. I also found a refereence to a Loyalist William getting a honor and land in Ont. Noted to be from Mass.Ruby poo poos that evidencs. But I think Amsbarys came to Fakk River Mass in about 1640, that William was Loyalist Scout for Brits on Frontier, returned to New York after war and here I am! Any help? Got my stuff from Huntington Beach Public Library big geno section there.

Canadian Amsbary connection

Hi, i'm looking for any info on the canadian branch of the amsbary family. My great grandmother was Emma Elizabeth Amsbary(1857-1924) her father's name was John Amsbary(1827 to about 1890) both of them born in Ontario. Emma's mother was Mary stevens (1834-1911) and Mary's father was Elijah Stevens. I believe John's father may have been william, but i don't know with certainty...there is almost certainly a Loyalist connection, but agian, my details are sketchy...appreciate any clues anyone can offer.

William Amsbary

William was b. abt 1824 in Fayette, Seneca Co., NY, and married Delany (McClure) Northam, 7 Mar. 1868 in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., Michigan. At the time of there marriage Delany had 1 daughter (Mary Ellen Northam) This could of possibly been a 2nd marriage for William. Would be interested in any info on William and/or his family.

E-Mail: Trakd@aol.com
Message

I read your message and although this seems impossible, my second husband Steven W. Amsbary's mothers name was Nellie I do not know her maiden name but I thought I would respond to your message. Nellie (Steve's mother) was born August 9, 1911 and passed on in July of 1983. His father was Howard Amsnbary and I have not been able to locate a record of his birth date of date of death.

Howard and Nellie lived in Coos Bay Oregon through most of Steven's childhood.

Good Luck in locating the information you need

My husband is Charles Ray Amsbary. He would like
information on his father's parents. We believe
his grandmother was Nellie Blessing. Charlie's
father would never talk about his past or his
family. E-mail is bsmith@hawkeye.cc.ia.us
Any information about the Blessing side of the family
would be appreciated.
