Re: Anaya roots in Belen NM State Relatives

Not sure if it will help you, but my dad came to California from Belin when he was about 6 years old. He was the second youngest of 13 children. My aunts/uncles are all from Belin with only the youngest living now. Some lived there all their lives. A while back, two uncles hired a genealogist and found that in our line, our grandfather arrived by ship with Don Cornado from Spain, I think in the 1500's. He was a journalist of some sort. On a side note, since that time the Spaniards were told to only marry other Spaniards, but my grandparents were the last in our lineage to keep that tradition as my dad and his brothers did marry outside races. I went to school with other Anayas but we were never able to determine if we were related. None of my uncles were named Paul, but I do think that all of their middle names were Carlos for some reason. Anyway good luck!

Thanks Lori for posting this Obit: I am glad to have found this message of my uncle Joe Nejeres Anaya as he was one of my mother's brothers. Her other brother was named; Augustine Nejeres Anaya, people knew him as ( Gus ), Uncle Gus died in Lubbock,Tx. <br>I would like to find information on their grandfather and my great-grandfather; Jose Angel Analla who homested property there in Lincoln County and named the little town Analla which lasted for 33 years before it was renamed Tinnie,Lincoln County,Terretory of New Mexico. The Surname Analla was later changed to Anaya, because of it's pronouncitation, although some folks still use Analla.
