Karen

I have located Andreas Anda son of Ole Thoresen Njå and Anna Malena Thoresdatter Kalberg, born 1 June 1833 in Anda, Klepp, Rogaland, Norway. Andreas was the youngest of 9 children of Ole and Anna. I can send you a report starting with Andreas' grandparents, Thore Aanunsen Njå and Kirstine Olsdatter with 4 generations of descendents. This report has 68 people but I have access to many more. The report will cite the sources I have accessed and with this information you can add dozens more people. Most of the information is available using Norwegian archives but I also have two books, on the history of farm owners and resident in Klepp which provide a very good starting point. The books, however, have errors so I rely on the Norwegian church records which are probably more accurate. Send me an email at olstadpm@aol.com if you want the full report.

Paul Olstad

My Grandfather (Ingvald Anda) came to the United States in 1911. He was born in Klepp, Norway in 1892. Ingvald settled in North Dakota, married Mamie Viger and had three children (Melvin, Ester, Lloyd). I do not know his parents name, however I do know his mother passed when he was young and his father remarried. We had contact with family in Norway, but since the passing of my father and uncle we have lost contact. Does anyone have any information.

I haven't checked this message board for years and just read your thread. My great grandfather Andreas Anda was born in Jaeren Norway 1n 1833. I believe his father was named Ole Anda and his mother Anne Malene Anda. I know he had eight siblings including brothers named Arnt and Ole. He immigrated 1n 1888 to Chicago. His wife was Berthe her parents were named Sivert and Sofie Frederiksen. I got this info from a translation of a church pamphlet celebrating Andreas' and Berthe's anniversary. I mention all these names because there are similarities in some of the threads I've read. It's hard to straighten out who is who when there is no one left to remember.

I am hoping that we can make contact with Angie and Karen to see if our ancestors are from the same Anda family. My great grandmother Bertha Serine Anda along with her brother Peter, his wife Severina and their son Peter came to US in 1884. They settled in IL and then MN, and I have alot of information up until their deaths. We know Bertha was born near Stavenger (Kleppe Station we think) in 1857. Peter was born in 1855. They had another brother Severt, born in 1873 who stayed in Norway. We believe their father's name was also Peder. Bertha first lived in LaSalle Co., IL and from my grandmother's story, she went to visit cousins in Chicago. We have just received the 1875 Norway census and in that is the Anda farm with Peter, Bertha, Andreas and Sivert listed as children of Peder and Malene. We would definitely like to compare notes to see if this Andreas is the same son that Karen talks about (according to the census he was born in 1864). Looking forward to hearing from both of you........

My family would have emmigrated in 1890's. My great grandfather was Andreas Anda and I know there was a big family. I don't know of any Olav's. All family is deceased so I have no accurate info. My Anda family lived in Chicago Illinois and operated Anda Brothers Fish Company in late 1890's and early 1900's.One Anda was a Lutheran minister in Chicago. My mother remembers my grandmother talking about sorting and packaging seeds in Norway as a child working in a family business. That is all the info I have.

I am researching Anda family from Norway. My great grandfather Andreas Anda immigrated to Chicago in 1890's. I don't know where he was from, possibly Haugesund which is near Stavanger. I received an Email from two people in Norway that stated that the Anda farm was in Klepp south of Stavanger and that an Andreas Anda immigrated in 1864 (too early to be my grandfather). I also learned that there are not many Andas in Norway - only about 375. So they are probably all related.
