Re: ANDERMANN Minnesota

Ancestry will not let me post anymore without taking their membership offer, so I'll try this way to answer you...

Subject: ANDERMANN family
You have a posting on Ancestry.com which says that your surnames from Steimbke includes an ANDERMANN family.
My gggrandfather was a Robert ANDERMANN, born in "Silesia" or "Germany" in early 1800s, according to census records. His wife was Rosa/Rosenia RUCKHABER, also from Germany. Are these names familiar to you? They emigrated abt 1867 to Minnesota.

Subj: ANDERMANN correction
my ANDERMANN/ANDERMAN gggrandfather usually put "Prussia" and "Schleswig" on census records...
*******************************************

Steimbke is just northwest of Hannover (city) while Schleswig is further up by the North Sea. Both areas would have been part of Prussia in that time frame. I know that there were family members that left the area(near Hannover)& went to other areas, so it is possible that your Andermanns were in the Hannover area prior to Schleswig. The Andermanns that immigrated to the Chicago area were from Hassbergen (Johann ANDERMANN born 1809 in Hassbergen, Hannover, and died 1893 in Downers Gr. Township). Hassbergen is just a little northwest of Steimbke, so I am quite sure that they most likely descend from Jürgen Andermann, born abt 1593, died 1683 in Steimbke, Hannover, Germany. His daughter, Gese Andermann, born 1631 in Steimbke, died 1704 in Wenden, married 1646 in Steimbke to
Hans Vögeler was my ancestor. Also, there were quite a few of the immigrants to the Chicago area that went on to Minnesota, as well as other areas.... mine (Beermanns, Runges, Duensings, etc.) migrated from the Chicago area to Dakota Co., Nebr. and then other immigrants came directly to Nebr. from Germany. Hope that helps. Linda

ANDERMANN Minnesota

I know nothing of my great-grandmother's family.

EDITH ANDERMANN, from Wabasha County Minnesota, married Frank Walker in 1900. The only Andermann I find in early census are ROBERT AND MARY (Rose?) ANDERMAN in the 1870 Wabasha census, listing children August and Louisa and birth places as Germany.

Does this family fit any other family?
