My lineage is through John Henry Anders, m to Catherine Alllison. Unfortunately, that is as far back as I can get (yes, they had 15 kids). Were you able to connect your Adam Anders to this John Henry? I sure hope so! I've been hunting for years! Let me know. My email is guitarmansbaby14 at aol dot com. Karen Clemente

Unfortunately, our dates do not match. I have a C L Andrews born 1847 in Georgia as confirmed in the 1880 census of Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana.

As no known documents exist in the family, it looks like we are still at a dead end.

Thank you for the information though - it is good to have something solid either yes or no.

C.L. ANDERS / ANDREWS is in my family tree as Charles Lathem ANDREWS or Charley. He is indeed a son of Michael L. ANDREWS and Parthenia PULLEN (see 1850 census Lincoln Co GA) and he came with the family in 1856 to St Francis / Monroe County Arkansas.

Charley left about 1880 and I found him in Alabama records, then next he is in Florida.

I'll email you later. We are having a very late dinner this evening ... You may email me at audstan@chartertn.net

See 1860 census in I believe Monroe Co AR but family is shown as ADAMS due to census taker error no doubt. You will find Mich'l ADAMS (ANDREWS) household and then you will find several MUNS / MUNNS households who are his sister married to 3 MUNS brothers, and his sister Parthenia is in Ed HOLLEMAN (Holliman) household shown 5 years younger as she was born about 1835 Wilkes GA.

GEN REPORT

Descendants of Charles Latham Andrews

Generation No. 1

1.
I believe we might be descended from the ANDREWS / ANDERS family originally from GA. Due to family issues, once I get beyond my great-grandfather; we are working with educated guesses.

My great-grandfather was Julius Wesley Andrews (b. Lottie LA) which (we believe) was descended from C L Andrews originally from GA 1842 whose father was Michael L Andrews.

I'd love to figure out if I've been chasing the right details if any of this information sounds promising.

I can be reached at eliand504@gmail.com.

~Elise

Some ANDERS are ANDREWS

I did an ANDREWS search on this board and find none, so perhaps few people are aware that the ANDREWS surname has been spelled ANDERS, ANDRES, ANDRUS, etc. In my ANDREWS line out of NCarolina, that came to Wilkes / LIncoln Co GA, they have been historically ANDREWS, however various records have them appear with other spellings.

Michael L. ANDREWS b about 1797 GA and wife Parthenia PULLIN / PULLEN b about 1805 GA are on the 1850 census Lincoln GA. They are my ggg grandparents and in 1856 came with their household by covered wagon to eastern Arkansas ...leaving many related ANDREWS behind in GA.

On the 1860 census in Arkansas, their name is down as ADAMS, and in court records I find them as ANDREWS more often than ANDERS.

Some of the line, ..a son William ANDREWS line (son William Jeptha Sr and his son William Jeptha ANDREWS jr) that had land in St Francis County, Wheatley township, AR has descendants living in Little Rock Arkansas using the ANDERS surname with no idea of their ANDREWS heritage. I have been trying to establish contact with this line of ANDERS after reacing one in 2007 by phone.

When William Jeptha ANDREWS / ANDERS and wife Lora ANDERS (wife is from a branch that went to MS I think, but no proof)were in Little Rock and so was a brother Thomas ANDREWS / ANDERS ...and they were involved in a Grocery business per the census and WWI Draft Registration records.

They also went for awhile to Lamar County Texas ...after the 1880 census, and then returned to Arkansas before 1910 ...and some of the ANDERS (as well as VAUGHAN and BUTLERs) are buried in Posey Cemetery, Wheatley, St Francis County Arkansas. Thomas, after his father died, took care of his mother Mary Ann Francis GILL ANDREWS / ANDERS who married WIlliam A. ANDREWS in Georgia and came with him to ARkansas in 1856.

I would like to hear from anyone that is familiar with this ANDREWS / ANDERS family that was allied in GA with PULLEN / PULLIN, HOUSE and GILL, HUGELEY families and more ....married in Arkansas into the MUNS / MUNNS and COOPER families, as well as BRoMLEY / BRUMBLY, ALMAN / ALLMON and PUGH lines, and also McLAIN / McCLAIN lines.

I have been doing research myself on this family. Ollie's brother, Braxton, was married to my father's birth mother, Marie Anders. There are memorials for Ollie, his brothers Braxton and Bill, Onis, Violet, and Ollie's parents, Mary ella and Zeke...all on www.findagrave.com
I have printed out a lot of info about the family. What info would you like to know? I'll see if I can answer anything for you.
Are you related to Ollie? I have Braxton and Bill's death certificates, as well and their obits. I also have Ollie's obituary.
Just let me know how I can help!
Here is a picture of Onis' headstone.

Melissa

Wow! Great! ( I could get the approximate birthdates from the passenger listing, but that's all.)

Thanks again for the info! I've got some new leads to follow. :)

-Sarah
