Thanks for reponding. I hope we have some connection.
Here is my lineage:
My ancestor (my G Grandmother) was born July 30 1868 in Tosse Sweden. Her birth name was Anna Maria Jansdotter.
She later used the name Andersson when she married in Norway (married Alfred Danialsson Friberg) and then when she came to Mpls. MN. she used the last name of Freeman.
Anns's mother was Laura Charlotta Andersdotter (Gustafsdotter)and she was born 1-13 1846. Laura's father's name is Lars Gustaf Andersson b. Sept. 25 1813.
Lars is the one that you have the picture of.
Since you have a picture of Lars Gustaf, our families do have some sort of connection. But the question is how?
Let me know if any of these people sound familiar.
I would love to hear from you.
Mary

I still have the photo; it was sent to me in an old album by some relatives in Sweden. The Andersson line is part of my family, but I do not have a great deal of information about them. I'd be happy to correspond and see where we might have useful information to share.

Emil and Augusta

Looking for information on Emil and Augusta. He was born in June 1873 and she was born in Feb 1870 in Stora Mellby Sweden to Erik Andersson (1832-1888) and Anna Andersdotter (1835-1916). Swedish census records say they both emigrated in 1890. But thats where they disappear. Not sure what name he used to emigrate- Swedish census said his name was Emil Eriksson and hers was Augusta Eriksdotter. However, the name could have been Andersson after his father or Eriksson which seemed to be a common practice when they boarded a west bound ship. Their mother, brothers, and sisters all changed their name to Melander in America but not sure when or whether Emil or Augusta did. Interested in anything someone might know.

I am not all sure of what information you are looking for exactly. Are you asking if they were siblings? Or what happened to Sarah Helena? What do you mean by "finding a relationship"

They were from Sweden? That is the typical way to spell Andersson/Anderson from Sweden If they were you should be able to find them registered with the port police. This would also give you their birthdate and where they were form. Then you go to the parish/town where they were from and look at those records. This is if you are wanting to find them backwards in time. The records are not all that difficult and you only need to be able to recognize a few words by sight.

Janis

Do you have the names of the seven children. I'm helping a member of the genealogy society that I belong to. One of his Aunts was and Andersson from Uddevalla. She was born depending on the immigrations records and census reports between 1890 and 1895. She also immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1904. The first name we have may not be the correct name but it appears to be Hertta Andersson. She was known as Hattie. Thanks for the assistance in advance.

Fran

Search for descendants of Lars Johan Andersson and Anna Kristina Petersdotter.

I am searching for descendants of my husbands Great Great Great Grandparents. Lars Johan Andersson and Anna Kristina Petersdotter had 4 children (boys) who immigrated to America. Anders Werner Larsson (my husbands Great Great Grandfather) immigrated in 1871, and changed his name to Andrew Warner. Anders' brothers, Per Johan Larsson, Lars Walfrid Larsson, and Gustaf Bernhard Larsson also immigrated to America.

Per Johan Larsson, b 6 Oct 1847 in Kalleregard, Herrestad, Ostergotland, Sweden, immigrated to North America in June 1870, arriving in December 1870, bound for Chicago. Per Johan returned to Sweden about 1876, got married and had a daughter, and left Sweden again for North America in May 1880, arriving in July 1880 in New York. According to passenger listings, Per Johan was a carpenter.

Lars Walfrid Larsson, b 22 Aug 1853 in Lundby, Herrestad, Ostergotland, Sweden, immigrated to North America in April 1873, arriving in May 1873. Lars Walfrid returned to Sweden about 1876 or 1877. I believe that Per and Lars returned to help their younger brother come to America. Lars Walfrid left Sweden again for North America in March 1880, arriving in June 1880 with destination of Minneapolis.

Gustaf Bernhard Larsson, b 19 Apr 1856 in Lundby, Herrestad, Ostergotland, Sweden, immigrated to North America in March 1880, the same time as Lars Walfrid, arriving in June 1880 with destination of Minneapolis.

Their Mother, Anna Kristina Petersdotter (may also be Larsson, Andersson or Peterson), immigrated to North America in April 1890 after her husband passed away. I believe she arrived in New York in June 1890 under the name of Anna Peterson with a destination of Chicago.

The story is that the three Larsson brothers (Per, Anders, and Lars) came to America, possibly starting out in Chicago (this is where Anders, AKA Andrew Warner, got married in 1879). The boys decided there were too many Larssons in the area, so two of them changed their last names, one of them to Warner (my husbands GG Grandfather), and the other possibly to Torgerson or Torgelson (after 4 generations the spelling is a guess on our part). Supposedly one of the brothers kept the name Larson or Larsson. Or so the story goes.

My husband has traced his family back to 1735 in Sweden, but has had no luck finding Andrew's siblings or their descendants here in America. If anyone has information on the descendants of Per Johan, Lars Walfrid, and Gustaf Bernhard we would greatly appreciate the help.
Bit of a problem locating my grandmother's records

In general, my family doesn't know anything about their ancestors. So, I decided to research it on my own and have run into the following problem:

My grandmother's death certificate (which I was able to locate) is listed under Violet Faith. The problem is, that wasn't actually her legal name. She decided she didn't like her birth name and just started using Violet without ever legally changing it. My mother thinks (but is not positive) that her legal name may have been "Magnahild" or something close to that. My grandmother's maiden name, I know, was Andersson.

Aside from the death certificate, I can't find a thing. It's possible my grandmother lived in North Carolina at one point, but NC records aren't yielding anything either. From the early 40's on, though, she lived in New York state. (Mainly Long Island and Athens.)

I can't find a thing on her except her death certificate. Aside from the death certificate, any Violet Faith matches (particularly one in Georgia) I've found aren't her. "Magnahilde Andersson" doesn't turn anything up either. I've tried variations on the name as well (Magnahild, for instance) with no luck. Anybody have any ideas how I can proceed here? Or am I out of luck?

I am trying to find info on Emil Andersson,he was born in Sweden in 1881,(23/10/1881 ?), one of 7 children of Johan Erik Andersson and wife Charlotta, married Mary Isabella Norden in Scotland in 1910, had 2 daughters there in 1912 & 1915 and I think had a farm after that in Canada, possibly with his brother Ernst. Full name was Emil Samuel Andersson. He may have been in New York or Canada before going to Scotland so pre 1910, firstly. I'd really like to find out the farm name in Canada as we have lost track of him after Scotland

Goteborg 12 Jul 1894, emigrated 02/05/1905,

We cannot locate in Ellis Island records so we assume they arrived elsewhere.
Re: August Wennerstrom

Jerry,

Leo Wennerstrom lived next door to my family in Alexandria, Louisiana in the 1950's. His wife was Hazel and his daughter Donna Kay was a little younger than I was. I remember sitting with them on the porch and Leo telling about how his grandfather came over on the Titanic and survived. I never was sure but that he was pulling my leg until years later when my son brought home a book about the Titanic with narrative of August's account on the ship.

When I married in the late 60's my husband and I visited Leo and Hazel in Fort Worth. Donna Kay might have been married by then. Hazel and Leo later visited my mother's beauty shop in North Louisiana. I never heard from them after that. But I treasure the stories Leo told.

Linda Morris-Virginia

August Andersson, SWEDEN>USA 1912

I am still waiting for information on my Greatgrandfather and any family he may have had. He Departed from Malmo Sweden on the Titanic in April 1912. He was fleeing over political issues. He wrote for a paper called the Gula Faran and got into some trouble over some political issues. I am not sure if he had any brothers or sisters, just that his mothers name was Elna (Mansdotter) Andersson and his father was Knut Andersson.

Shelley,

How wonderful to hear from you. I remember that Hazel had some daughters from her first married. In fact, I remember that she had one or two grandsons who visited her from Texas, I think, when she lived next door to us.

Donna was a few years younger that me, but I remember that she had reddish hair. Not long after my husband and I married, we were living in Dallas(abt. 1969). We drove over to Fort Worth to visit Hazel and Leo. Several years later they stopped by to visit my mother in her beauty shop in North Louisiana. Mother said that Hazel was still Hazel. They were really nice people.

The Titanic story was a fascinating one. I keep telling myself that I actually heard some stories about it from the son of an actual survivor.

My son lives in Decatur, GA not too far from Donna. It is a small world.

It was really nice to hear from you.

Linda Morris
