Silas was the son of Ebenezer Andrews. He was a native of Connecticut and came to Sugar Run in Wilmot, Bradford county (Wyalusing) about 1793. He was married to Patty, daughter of Isaac & Jemima Hancock also of the same place.
Silas and Patty are listed on the 1800 Wyalusing census, both of them over 45 years, with 2 males under 10 years and 3 females under 10 years. They eventually removed to New York state.
Could anyone possibly provide more information regarding the wherabouts or family of Patty and Silas after leaving PA? Thanks in advance.

Patrick
I'm searching for any information regarding John Andrews, b. 1790, RI, who married a Sarah Brigham Rice. I believe his father was Benjamin Andrews, b. 1757, whose wife was Elizabeth Seabury. Is there anyone who might be able to help me trace John Andrews, and help to complete my family line??? I've been hitting a brick wall for years on this.

My thanks,
Linda Newbrough
(Andrews line)
Anacortes, WA
lmnewbro@msn.com

POW/MIA Korean War

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Washington County, Pennsylvania as his home of record. His remains were never recovered. Our government has no family contact at this time for this soldier

Soldier: HOWARD ANDREWS
Born: 1926
Date of loss: April 25, 1951

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Charles Andrews, son of Asa Andrews, born about 1834 or 1836 in Ohio, died after 1880, probably in Nebraska or Kansas. First wife Hannah M. ?. born 1845 died 18 Oct 1877 buried at Rose Creek Cemetery, Thayer/Jefferson County, Nebraska. Children Barbara Ann b about 1861 died after 1930 married Phinis or Finis or Tim Wolcott 1880 in Republic County Kansas, Robert Asa b 6-27-1865 d 7-19-1905 buried Rose Creek married Rosa Ann Patchen 1885 in Washington Co. Kansas, Mary Lucinda (Cindy) b about 1865 married Martin Baker, Susannah A. b may 1870?, Asenath (maybe Susannah) born 2-6-1872 d 2-5-1907 Douglas Co., Nebraska,m Meredith Dan Headley, Etta born about 1872, Matilda born about 1873 married William Shons or Shows or Shoup?, Anson buried at Rose Creek Cemetery, Infant died 1867 buried at Rose Creek cemetery.
2nd wife Sarah Ann Wolcott, sister of Phinis Wolcott who married Barbara Andrews 1879 in Jefferson County, Nebraska.

notes about Charles Andrews:
Filed for land 1863 Jefferson Co., Nebr.

Charlie Andrews was hurt in a hunting accident. They had no meat for their tables in the first years of homesteading, only the wild game. A number of the neighboring men decided to go on a buffalo hunt, so they did. After a few hours they sighted a herd grazing a ways from them, they decided to crawl up as near as they could. A gun was accidently discharged and shot Charlie in the leg. The men were so excited, the buffalo all got away. Charlie lost the leg from the knee down.

They lived in and around Reynolds, and I knew them all well. She (Barbara) was left on the late evening of a rainy, very chilly day, a mover wagon, pulled by oxen, drove into my father's Uncle Charlie Andrews' yard. There were only a man and little girl in the wagon. (I am not sure the size of the little girl, I seem to remember she was only a baby) His wife had died on the trip out. The Andrews family invited them to come in and eat supper, and the ladies took care of the little girl. After resting himself and the oxen a day or two, the traveler felt he must go on, but he asked if they would care for the child until he would return for her. He never returned and they never knew what happened to him. The little girl grew up as if she was one of the Andrews children, name of Barbara Andrews. She grew to womanhood and married a man by the name of Finnis Wolcott, they had 5 children, Willie, Asa, Frank, George and Pheobia. They lived in and around Reynolds, and I knew them all well. She was left a widow when the children were rather small. Barbara died suddenly while attending a Christmas eve program in the church. All have passed away but Frank Wolcott and he still lives in Thompson, Nebr. He served (I believe) in the 1st or 2nd World War. (written by Aunt Bessie Sprague 2-12-1964)
Does anyone have any information about the siblings of Asa Andrews, son of Samuel Andrews and Sarah Carpenter? I am also looking for information about the other Andrews who were living in Chenango Co., NY at the same time that Samuel, his siblings and his father (before 1825)lived there. Does anyone know anything about Rachel and Content sisters of Samuel, father of Asa. Is there a relationship between the "other" Andrews and this Andrews family (Chenango Co., NY) Samuel moved to Ashtabula Co., his brothers John and Stephen moved to Richland Co.,OH, also his mother Maria/Maris. What happened to his brothers William and James. Samuel's sisters Abrigail and Sarah moved to Ashtabula Co., can't find Rachel and Content.

Your ancestor was Charles oldest child in that family.
I have quite a bit of information on the Andrews family.
According to my information Samuel's family and Charles family were at Rose Creek, Nebr at the same time.

Re: John Andrews

The John Andrews you referred to never reached Virginia. He and wife Easter Unknown had 10 children ,and he died in 1615/1616 and is buried at St. Clements Parish, Cambridge, England. "Dr."John Andrews "the elder", was an investor in King James' Virginia Company and also bought stock in the name of his son John Andrews "the younger". John Andrews "the younger" came to Virginia in late 1609 or early 1610 and died shortly thereafter during the "starving time" , from unknown causes. According to all available records he had no descendants.

When "Dr" John Andrews died he left his stock and that of his son John to his son William. In 1617 "Dr".John Andrews' son William Andrews came to the Eastern Shore and in later records is known as Lt. Col. William Andrews, a prominent settler in Northampton County, Virgina--as was his son and grandson both named William Andrews. They are listed in the Virginia history records as prominent citizens.

It is not known if any of "Dr" John's other sons---other than John and William--- came to Virginia, but it is highly doubtful.

Hope this helps.
gandrews84

Realized I wasn't really clear. The c1926 wedding of Frederick and Eliza was in Pulaski Co., GA where her parents and grandparents had lived.

I suspect Frederick was a genetic RAINEY as the name Frederick is very common in the RAINEY family and this is what we can confirm or deny with y-DNA testing.

Perhaps Frederick's mother married an ANDREWS after Frederick's father died or perhaps they both died and Frederick was adopted, informally or otherwise, by an ANDREWS family. We do know there his widow and the widow of James Highsmith ANDREWS were neighbors after their husbands died.

Sorry if I bother you
My name is Federica Artana from Italy looking for an old friend: Christopher Andrews from Pittsburgh, PA. If I remember he was born on July 14th maybe 1968 or 1970...My memory is not so good lately!!!
I met him in Club Med Guadaloupe, French Antilles in 1992 while we were both working as Go's.
I came visiting me to Turin where I lived and I followed him to Albenia to meet his closed relatives. We stayed at his cousin's house in Tirana and had an "incredible" journey to Kosowo. This could be summer 1993...if I recall
He joined Breaking Away biclycle tours mainly in French
I've been looking for him over the internet...appearently there are more then 500 Christopher Andrews in the States!!! and I cannot write to everyone of them!
This is what I know about him...maybe not so much
maybe some of you could give me an hint. I will appreaciate it very much
Thanks a lot for anything you could do for me
Many thanks and regards,
Faith

I have seen posts that give Mary as the wife of George Andrews Sr. But the census of 1850 lists her as Elisabeth. Was Elisabeth a second wife? She was NOT a daughter, as some indicate, because her age was ninety in 1860.

Hello,

I wonder if we might have a connection, because there just aren't that many Andrews family members out there in West Virginia or the Shenandoah Valley. I don't see how we might be connected, however.

Where and when was Asa Andrews born?

My g g grandfather James M. Andrews (born about 1824 in Virginia) is in the Page County Va census in 1860 but is in Harper's Ferry by 1870. He was with Clara Miller in 1870 because his first wife died of cancer about 1860. I know he married Mahala Short after 1860, but then by 1870 was with Clara Miller, who I believe may have been a widow.

If find James and Clara again in 1880 in Cumberland Maryland.

James had the following children: Mary, Martha, Sarah, William, Wilson, and Hiram ( my great grandfather). Of these 6 children, there were two sets of fraternal twins.I see that his daughter Martha Andrews married Thomas Brown and lived in the area.

His son William H. Andrews moved to the Pittsburgh area (Allegany County) and I have information about that line.

I have no information about Wilson or Sarah, though there was a domestic named Sarah Andrews in Jefferson County who may have been she.

Thanks for your help,

Sally Andrews Gudas

Hi. Came across your message again tonight. If possible, would you scan and send photos of #57, 58, and 59, please. My James Hannah was older brother to Elizabeth and Sarah McClelland was sister to John McClelland. Any additional photos of this family would certainly also be appreciated. Thank you, and hope all is well. MeRebecca@aol.com
