Thank you, JW Garrett, for all your info! My Jessee Elitha/Eligha Angel/l was very likely in White Co., TN since that is where his wife Sarah Burton was born and where her father Henry was a minister when Jessee and Sarah were married about 1825. (I would initially presume she was married by her father at their church.) My Jessee had sons by the names (in birth order) of Eligha, Henry, Lawrence, Charles and James, so you suggested relationships seem promising.

Jessee's birthplace is based upon info from 1850 U.S. census in St. Louis County, MO --but census info is frequently incorrect (depending often upon who is reporting).

I have not been able to access online a copy of the 1825 tax list for White Co., TN. (I do see that the Family History Library can obtain such for me.) If you have another online source, could you please share it with me?
