This is a far-fetched attempt to fill in the blanks of my maternal ancestry...My results from the mtDNA tests, show a link to some Slovenian ancestry, KS, ca1920..a common ancestoral line. Slovenia is at the NE border of Italy. Some refugees did and do immigrate due to ethnic persecutions. I was doing some random searching and found a reference to Lucinda Angelo, b:1857 in McLean, IL. I don't know if Angelo was her maiden name or married name.
According to the results for the line, where her name's listed, her mtdna results are an exact to mine and I'd like to see if there's a common denominator in our trees that might help me (and someone else, maybe?) find out who the "Unknown" women in my tree are. I have a Daniel/David Corn/w/ell b:Clermont,OH 1847, who married 2 unknown women born in Arkansas, probably late 1860's. lst wife, died in TX..according to an 1880 Census for McDonald Co.,MO, where he'd left his 3 dtrs to "go back to Texas"...One of these girls was my G-grandmtr and I'd love to find more abt her parents. Her G-ftr was George Corn/w/ell who was married at that time, to a Mrs Helen Marie Sartwell-Evans, who died in 1882, leaving a housefull of kids to be scattered among relatives, I suppose. Some of the descendants think the "Unknown" women may have been from a Lovell family, in NW Arkansas. As I mentioned, I don't know if the Angelo name was from a marraige or a maiden name. I was born in IL, abt 50 miles east of St. Louis and figure my dad knew someone there...he and his dad worked in the Oilfields, he was working for Midwest Drilling, OK City, OK at the time, mid 1940's. If this goes with anybody else's mysteries, please let me know and maybe we can find some answers?
A note is that some of the near matches for the mtdna results point to a Fogel/Fogle..Vogel/ar name, also. I wasn't familiar with these surnames, but they are Slovenian..Mediteranian, etc..I see a Miller name tied to the Angelo name and I have a lot of ancestors who had experience in the shipping industries, transferring these trades to intercoastal pursuits, in the early 1800's etc.
Thanks.
