Abigail (Purdy) Angevine is the one who died on 09 Jan. 1853. The information for Peter just says b. about 1769-72 in Westchest Co., NY, and died "about 1818 in NYC."

According to my records, which were absorbed from everyone else's family trees, Peter died in 1818. Have I been incorrect all this time? Do you have supporting documentation for the 1853 death date?

Their son was Lewis 'Louis' Angevine, b. @1702 in NY. He married Esther Sicard 'Secord'. Their son was John Angevine, b. 08 Feb. 1748 in Westchester Co., NY; d. 26 Aug. 1801 in Scarsdale Twp., Westchester Co., NY; buried in St. Paul's Episcopal Church Yard, Mt. Vernon, NY. He married Phebe Fowler, b. 27 Jan. 1748; d. 12 Sep. 1823 in Manhattan, NY. Their son was Peter Angevine, born @1769-72 in Westchester Co., NY. He married, on 28 Dec. 1794, Abigail Purdy, born 25 June 1775; d. 09 Jan. 1853.

According to my records, Lewis (Louis) Angevine was born 19 Aug 1732. He married a woman named Phebe or Phoebe at the Dutch Reform Church in Tarrytown, NY in about 1754. They had several children, including James. James married Elizabeth Farrington.

This information was taken from the LDS website, which I have found to have some inconsistencies for certain individuals. Cannot say for sure about Lewis or James.

Hope that helps!!!

Ray, we were in Grenada on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Was able to find the Angevine-Weir plot and took pictures of many of the stones. I do have an old picture album and most of the photo's are from Adrian, Michigan. Also found a photo of my grandmother, Edna Angevine, Saxton's wife standing on the front porch steps of Cousin Ida's house in Grenada in 1951 along with, I believe Ida, Madge and Evalyn. Got away from this for several years, please contact me with e-mail address and I will scan for you.

I see your post is two years old: but that is so small compared to the years we go back in time to look people up...so here goes.

I am looking at the book from Dearborn County, Indiana historical society on the Angevine family. I lived in their cabin in the '70's. I grew up in Dearborn county.

The record says: LOUIS ANGEVINE was the father of FRANCIS ANGEVINE; 39 yrs. old in 1627--wife MARIE had a son named HENRY. The family came from Angers, in the Duchy of Anjou, 100 miles north, in 1550. As they lacked a surname, their neighbors dubbed them ANGEVINE, and it remained.

(much history written, I am just giving you what may be of immediate interest)

JAMES ANGEVINE, 1777-1874, born in New York City, August 1, 1777, only son and oldest child of JOHN AND SARAH (COUTANT) ANGEVINE. JOHN was a shoemaker and cartman. JAMES went to sea as a youth, serving as a cooper on whaling vessels.

JOHN ANGEVINE, oldest child of John and Esther (Palmer) Angevine, born June 10, 1754, New Rochelle, New York.

JOHN AND SARAH ANGEVINE moved to York Township, Dearborn county, Indiana with their son James and his wife Susanah Montfort (dau. of Albert H. and Susanah Hoagland).

Tombstones in the Angevine family cemetery, Yorkville, Dearborn County, Indiana, are inscribed:

JOHN ANGEVINE, died 1831, April, native of New York, also his wife, SARAH, died 1st of January, 1832.
Also their daughters: SARAH BARTLOUS (BARTLOW), 20th September, 1823 and ELIZA LEWES, July, 1839.

Both daughters, SARAH and ELIZA, are in the 1800 New York, with JOHN and SARAH ANGEVINE, parents, and sisters SUSANAH, ESTHER, ELIZA and 'SALLY' SARAH.

I have the entire genealogy/8 generations. Let me know is this has helped. Better late than never.

Sincerely, iluvindy

Is anyone aware of a marriage between an ANGEVINE woman and a WOOD man, in the period from 1810-1835? This does not include the marriage between Esther Ann ANGEVINE (daughter of John AGNEVINE and Phebe FOWLER) and Jeremiah WOOD/WOODS. I have already excluded that pairing.

I am trying to locate the likely parents or grandparents of a John Angevine WOOD, b. 1836 in NY, and reasoned that the use of ANGEVINE as the middle name probably points to a woman from that family in the generations just prior to John A. WOOD.

I believe your greatgrandmother, Angeline Angevine Holden, is #456 (b. 10 Jul 1843) in Clyde Angevine's book. Eunice Rhoda Tulle was Lewis' (#206) second wife, according to the book. Lewis' (#206) father was James (#85), the son of Lewis (#34). #34's father was also a Lewis (#16) and this Lewis/Louis was the son of Pierre (#2), who was one of the two immigrant Huguenot Angevine brothers who came to the NYC area. I am also descended from Pierre.

Your Mary was, I believe, #22 in Clyde Angevine's genealogy. She was the daughter of #9 Zachary Jr. and Johannah (Mallet) Angevine. #9 Zachary's father was #1 Zachariah, the immigrant and his molther was Mary/Marie Naudin. An Ancestry search for Zachariah should yield several family trees.

But I also have Hattie & Mattie Angevine which were living with Lewis and Fronia in the 1900 Census Potter Co, PA. Does anyone have a clue who they are? If you dont mind me asking who is your mother, Elva, Clella, Eunice or Wanda? In 1920 Dean, Elva & Clella were living with my great grandparents Charles & Phoebe (Angevine) Evans.
Angeline was my great grandmother. My grandmother was her daughter Malinda. Was your grandfather Lewis Malinda's brother? The Angevines were my mother's family and because my mother's family moved to California in the early 1900s, I have very little knowledge of the Angevines. I would love to know the stories you have and see the pictures. I have some pictures too, but unfortunately there are not any names connected with them. Perhaps we could compare. Clyde Angevine has documented the Angevines in his book "Angevine Genealogy", published in 1977. I understand that he is planning on issuing a new version, but I am not aware of the planned publication date. If you do not already have access to the book, I would be happy to look up some information for you.
Linda

Thank you so much for this information. Have you been researching this line for some time? Unfortunately for my research, my family moved from PA to CA then to OK so all of my effort has been from a distance so far. I am particularly interested in understanding the story of their lives. I would greatly appreciate any other sources that you have found that would help me - particularly family or local histories. I have access to census records, etc. but these other resources are difficult to uncover.

Thank you again,
Linda
