Anglade - Louisiana

I am looking for any information on the Anglade Family in Louisiana. I have that Jean Baptiste (J.B.) Dominique Anglade came from France to Louisiana as a school master. He married a Collette Breaux in 1853 in Paincourtville, LA. They had a son named Pierre Hubert Anglade in 1867 who married Marguerite Scott around 1890. I also have J.B.'s parents as Dominique Anglade and Jane Marie Auba. Any informtation would be great. I am also willing to share what I have.

At some point the name Anglade changed to Englade, then Englande.

Thanks

The story I heard was that there were two Anglada Brothers that came from Spain. One went to Cuba and the other to Puerto Rico. Know there are only two Anglada families that I am aware of in Puerto Rico. One from Yauco and the other from San Sebastian. That we know of we are not related but I guess that can be researched.

My great grandfather was Alfonso Anglada. His mother was Ramona (Montalvo) Anglada of Yauco and his father was Manuel Anglada of Yauco. Ramona and Manuel also had a son called Ramon and a daugher called Ramona. Both these children became schoolteachers. My grandmother Carmen Anglada was raised by her grandmother Ramona (Montalvo) Anglada and by her aunt. I believe I am related to Daphne Anglada who posted a message saying that Ramon Angalda Montalvo was her father. If so, Ramon is my great uncle. If anyone has any more Anglada family connections, please contact me. Sam Ramirez greatknowledge@yahoo.com Feb. 20, 2010

Fernando,
I just recently found out that my great great great grandfather, Juan Anglada Moll, was born in Menorca in 1808. He left and went to Puerto Rico and then in 1851 to Cuba. He settled in Matanzas, Cuba. My family tree is from the Cuban line (we think that maybe he had another family in Puerto Rico??).
Anyway, if any of this information is of interest to you let me know.
Denise

In 1880, New Orleans, Orleans parish, Louisiana Census there is a Peter Anglada. He is 45 years old, from Spain, both parents are from Spain and he is a fish dealer. In his household there are: Clodie, wife, 32 yrs old from LA and parents from LA; John, son, 4 years old born in LA; Albert, son, 3 yrs old born in LA. There is also a Carmelita Sagiera (I believe actually might be Carmelite Sagrera) who is listed as his cousin, 39 yrs old and also from Spain. Also Clotildo Poully, a servant, female, 16yrs old and from LA, father from Spain and mother from LA. Does this family fit in with your Pedro Anglada or any other known Anglada family? Are there any known New Orleans Anglada families? Thanks.......Dana Hudson, THudson763@aol.com

Pedro Anglada b. 1830 settled in Biloxi, MS

Pedro Anglada was born about 1830 in Spain and settled on the MS Gulf Coast (Biloxi, MS) where there was a Spanish colony. He had the following children: James, Peter, Jr, William, Louis and Johanna. There was a Larat Anglada also born in Spain living nearby. All of the children stayed in the Biloxi area except Johanna. She had a difficult time getting along with her mother and married someone named John Marcadal on July 22, 1876 in Harrison County, MS. Her second husband was _____ Reilly and her third husband was Wm. Agan. We know this from letters she wrote her father. On May 23, 1903 she was in Butte City, Silver Bow County, Montana, letter signed, Johanna Reilly. Another letter from Butte City was undated and signed Mrs. Wm. Agan. Johanna was living at 118 Minah Street in Butte City. On May 10, 1908 from Gold Field, Esmeralda County, NV, she signed the letter as Mrs. Wm Agan and states that all her children were married. She mention Josie, Frank and Rose. These could be her children.
It's possible that there were Anglada relatives out West and that's why she migrated there. No one knows.
I'm searching for any links to my Anglada ancestors from Spain.
I am Charles Maniaci, son of Velma Elizabeth Anglada, daughter of Peter Francis Anglada, son of James Anglada, son of Pedro Anglada from Spain (possibly Barcelona area)
Families in Spain

I live in New Mexico. Other relatives have traced my ancestry to my great great grandfather Jose Maria Anglada who came to America from Spain. I believe that is where the name possibly originates. It may come from an old Spanish term for England
"angla terra" I think the suffix " ada" signifies "from" therefore Anglada may mean someone from England. Just my own opinion.
