Nelson's wife was Margaret Allen Hubbard, who was born in Orono, Maine, on May 31, 1842. (Parents: Daniel Hubbard and Jane Clark McNeal a/k/a Neal.) Her family came to Wisconsin in the mid 1850s, and the 1860 census indicates that she married Nelson in 1859. She was still living when Nelson took his own life in 1888, but I don't know what became of her after that. (She was my great-great-aunt.)
