I collect old letters and have a strange, short letter dated May 15, 1857. The envelope is addressed to a John Heller, but inside it is addressed to Heller and Simon Anglemyer. The address is Clinton Postoffice, Linewah County, Michigan. It includes chit chat of friends with extremely poor spelling. Any idea of this Simon near the village of Clinton? Ron

I have been tracing my GGGrandmother, Elizabeth Bowman's line. I found her father David and mother Susanna Bauman on her baptismal records. I recently found a biography of a half brother of hers that says that David Bowman's first wife was Susanna Anglemeyer. She would have been born abt. 1809 in or near Northampton/Monroe county, Pennsylvania. She was living in Paradise Valley in 1830. If anyone has any info, my e-mail address is bjudy_a_@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Anglemyers of Upper Mt. Bethel, Northampton, PA

I am looking for information on my wife's 2nd great-grandfather, John Anglemyre, b. abt 1802 / d. bet 1870 & 1880 census. Family records say he was born in Pocono but I think Upper Mt. Bethel is correct. He married Margaret (Mary) Heller in abt 1830/1833.

He had at least two brothers that we know about, Jacob and Adam. By 1850 all three brothers and their families had moved to Pocono Twp., Monroe, PA.

In the 1810 census for Upper Mt. Bethel there are three Anglemyres: Jacob, Peter and Adam. Of the three only Peter had three sons under age of 10 so I believe him to be the father.

The 1850 census for Pocono shows a widow, Margaret Anglemeyre living with John and his family. I believe her to be the mother of Jacob, Adam and John.

Any help confirming these relationships would be appreciated. I would also like to determine the names of the parents of Jacob, Peter and Adam. All three were born bet. 1766 & 1784.

Help with Margaret Heller's parents would also be appreciated. She was born 1799/1802 in PA (Probably Northampton) and she died aft 1880.

There was a Solomon Heller in Upper Mt. Bethel during this period. He had a daughter, Maria, born in 1803. Apparently she married a Snyder at about the same time Margaret married John Anglemyre. This is the only Heller I find in the area.

Frank Smith
fsmith2610@msn.com
This was still northampton co. and changed to monroe county later I believe in 35. george was the son of peter and susan -nee(nichlaus)anglemoyer. Dont let the spelling fool ya hes listed in the census as anglemoyer, anglemayer and anglemyer. The kids are consistent so its all the same family.
source of baptismal is from the church records ,

Hoping you got my email regarding George and catherine. But just in case you didnt here goes.
My husband is decended from paternal GP
John peter b.1883 and Della warner. b 1884
Peter clinton b. 1864 and Mary Snyder.b.1868
George b 1831 Catherine Kresge b 1834

The census that you refer to with George as head of house hold and Peter is the father living with them could very well be the same family except that Peter clinton is not listed. This makes me skeptical. Although he was 16 and could very well have been out of the house. Also the name is spelled different but I know that occurs.I live near where they are from so I will be going to the local gen library soon and if I find anything I will let you know.
Dear Sue,
George Anglemyer was born abt. 1831 in Pennsylvania.
He is listed in the 1880 cencus as the head of the household, living with his wife Catherine (Kresge) who I know is a decendant of Conrad Kresge. He was also living with his father Peter Anglemyer, born abt. 1800 in Pennsylvania. I have found some Peter Anglemyers born in 1799 and 1800 on the familysearch.com website, but I don't want to make any assumptions. I am trying find this info so that I can trace myself back to (the immigrant) Adam Angermayer. Thanks for all your help, Robert

Hi again Robert, Just thought of some more stuff. Where was George born, and when? Do you know anymore info. about him? I do know about the Kresge family connection with us, there is a book out about Conrad Kresge--there most likely is a connection. Have you heard about Erle Zimmerman? He wrote a book about us, if interested you can contact your local Family History Center-the Mormons and they will order it for you. Number is 496,505. Item 1.
I do have this: Adam Anglemeyer married Sarah Kresge.
He was born Dec 20, 1800, in Bucks co,. PA and died July 22, 1880. Sarah was born Sept. 10, 1812, and died Dec 12, 1868. So far, that is all I have. I'll keep looking. Sue

Please keep in contact, I will try to help you some more if I can. The birth years are 1834-1854, Sarah to Ella. Sincerely, Sue
