I knew Marshall and Marguerite Angleton. They were a fantastic couple and it was the greatest sadness of their lives together that they never had children. She was always dressed perfectly and was a real lady in every sense of the word. Their house was a museum of sorts because of his service in China. His stories were incredible to a young man and I cannot see the movie The Sandpebbles with Steve McQueen and not remember the terrific stories he told me and the great people they were. I think of them both with a great fondness. I served his funeral with another young man he had befriended, but I believe I was away when Marguerite died. I could go on for hours with stories. They lived on San Roy Dr. in Dunedin which borders on Clearwater. He lived in Tarpon Springs before their move to Dunedin and as you noted lived in the midwest before that. I was just a kid at the time and sadly remember little of what he told me of his childhood

Hi Debbie. I thought your name sounded familiar, when I found it in my address book I knew we had corresponded in the past. You are a descendent of Mary Alice Angleton (1829-1873) and James Brown Luther (1825-1882).

You know that James B. Luther can be tied to the first Luther in U.S. (Captain John Luther).

James Brown Luther (1825-1882)
married: Mary Alice Angleton (1829-1873)

Parents of Mary Angleton are:
William Penn Angleton, III (1807-1890)
& Elizabeth Peake

I use 2 email addresses, address to Patti Brown at:
texan_now@yahoo.com OR write2us@swbell.net
Mary Alice Angleton (1829-1873), is the daughter of
William Penn Angleton (1807-1890)
& Elizabeth Peake Noel (born 1797).

Mary Alice Angleton married
James Brown Luther (1825-1873)
on 1 Dec 1846 in Shelby County, IN

What many of you Angleton genealogist may be unaware of is
Mary's husband, JAMES BROWN LUTHER, is a direct descendant of Captain John Luther of Massachusetts Bay Colony 1630-35.

There are a huge number of genealogist who trace their Luther blood back of Captain John Luther. They formed the:
Luther Family Association. They put out a Luther Family Newsletter, and just completed their 2nd printing of the
Luther Genealogy.

Of course Luther genealogy is just one-step away from
Reverend Martin Luther ---
The Luther Association does not have a specific lineage to Reverend Martin Luther which it has sactioned. But one version of the lineage is traced from James Brown Luther,
above, to brother of Reverend Martin Luther.

Crystal, we are happy to hear from you and thank you for the consideration for future assistance. We sure need and appreciate it. You are the only person that has contacted us from the Angelton family.

Here is the information we have regarding Roy and his military happenings. We are also sending a reference from the Indianapolis Times in which we do not have a copy. Most of the media notices were posted about the same time so it may also be in the Star and News too.

References:
Indianapolis Times
February 28, 1945
Casualty
Page 5, Column 2

Roy R Angleton
Private First Class
United States Army
152nd Infantry Regiment, 38th Infantry Division
S/N 35156988
Indianapolis – Marion County – Indiana
DOD – February 1, 1945
Buried in Manila American Cemetery - Philippines
Plot A Row 3 Grave 176
Purple Heart

We also hope you have visited our website.

http://fizkid.tripod.com/

Usually we send the grave photo and ones of the memorial. If you wish to have these via email we will gladly send them and there is no charge for anything. Just send a note telling us and please place Roy's name in the email so we can save time without back-tracking to trace the name.

Apple and I are pleased to be able to reach the Angelton Family and hopefully there are brothers, sisters, cousins and perhaps other close relatives still living. In a few instances we hae located a father or mother still living.

We hope you have seen the grave site photo that was on the message board from which you replied.

Roy R Angleton of Clay Co IN killed in South Pacific in WWII

Roy R. Angleton of Clay County Indiana was killed in the South Pacific February 1, 1945, and is buried in the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We would appreciate any information regarding his military or family history.

I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information about servicemen from your county killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines.

http://fizkid.tripod.com/

My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date.

If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us.

Zenas5@yahoo.com

Sincerely,

Dave and Apple Dwiggins
San Pablo City, Philippines

Hi Patti! William Penn Angleton and Elizabeth Peek are my 3rd gr grandparents. But I'm descended from their daughter Elizabeth (3 Aug 1841- 12 May 1910) and William Monroe (19 Apr 1841- 14 Apr 1919). Do you have any info on this couple? Thanks alot, Debbie

Hi Patti! I already have the info you gave me. Elizabeth and Wm Monroe are both buried in Lewis Creek Cem in Shelby Co., IN. I have seen their graves . William's parents are Joseph Monroe (10/Apr/1805- 20/Oct/1903) and Harriet Keeler (17/Dec/1809-27/Mar/1843). The only thing I have found about William Penn Angelton is that he married a woman named Noell. Was he married twice? I haven't found where he maried Elizabeth Angleton. Again, thanks for the info. Debbie P.S. William Sherman Monroe died 30 Nov 1929. His second wife Celeste Mount died 15 Jul 1934. I have copies of their obits and pictures of them if you are interested.
