Michael Ansel (1795-1870) PA

Looking for information on Michael Ansel born 1795 in Somerset, Somerset County, PA and died 1870 in Fayette County, PA. Michael was the son of Michael Ansell (1773-1851) and Catherine Finecoats (1782-1860). Michael was married to a Catherine, but I am unsure of her last name. They had 5 children to my knowledge: George (1819-1856), Mary Ann (1822-?), John (1826-?), Henry (1829-?) and Alexander (1829-1880). Michael may have also been married to a Catharine Noftsinger. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Ansell, Cabell Co., VA/WV

I am searching for a connection for Mahala Ansel b. 1838, daughter of Martin & Hannah Ansel b. 1780's & 90's. I found them in 1830/40/50 censuses, Cabell VA. I am trying to prove this to be the Mahala who married David Crawford b. abt 1837, OH. If someone has any facts about this family, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Patty (found spelled Ancel, Ansel, Nancel also)

I saw your posts, although they are old, and wanted to ask about this family. I just finally came across it as a maiden name for a line I have been researching. Could Martin Ansel (also found spelled Ansell, Nancel & Ancel) b. abt 1785 be part of your line? Census finds him in Cabell Co., VA in 1830/40/50. His wife is listed as Hannah; their daughter that I am trying to connect to is Mahala, b. 1838 VA. If this family fits in somewhere, I would love to hear from you. Thanks a lot.
Donna,
Is your Snowdeal family connected to the Ansel family? If not, you will never get an answer to your query here. Where are your Snowdeals from? There is no Snowdeal message board, but if I knew the county and state they were from, I could move the message there. You'll stand a much better chance of getting an answer if it is posted to the correct board.
Nan
Admin

Donna,
I know nothing about the Snowdeals. I'm the board admin and just wanted to help you post your query where you would have the best chance of getting a reply. At the top of the page, where it says "search", type in the name Snowdeal, hit go, and you will be taken to a page where all Snowdeal queries are listed for the boards. Read through them and post to the ones you think may be able to connect to your family. There is a Waycott board. You can find it by going to the bottom of the page where it says "find a board". Type Waycott and hit go, and it will take you to the Waycott board.
Good luck.
Nan

Carol,

Unfortunately the Bible's family tree section is blank. Do you know if any of the Ansel/Ansell family members you are researching were butchers? The Bible was presented in loving memory of Albert P. Ansel by the Almagamated Meat Cutters Local 189. Additional and possibley useful information is that Ada F. Ansel was born on April 25, 1898 and died on February 16, 1969. Her husband, Albert Paul Ansel was born on August 20, 1895 and died on February 21, 1969. Both of their funerals were held at Bergan-Miller Colonial Funeral Home. Maybe they keep some kind of records which may reveal some siblings of the deceased or children. The Bible does have both of the cards that were handed out at each funeral. I hope this helps.

Monique
I hope you still have the Ansel Bible. I am researching the Ansel/Ansell line in Lawrence Co, OH and Cabell Co, WV.
Don't know if some went to other states. I am specifically looking for the family of Abram Sylvester Ansell and Lilly R Bennett. Their children were (best as I know): Myrtie Ellen, George Irvin, Otho, Marion Wilson, John Wm, Ada C or J Ada,
Albert Alonzo, Zella, Lena, Nola, Nora. Have got most of this from censuses but some are hard to read.

Please get in touch with me if you, or anyone, has info on this family. Thanks so much. Carol

Harry, Thank you for viewing my posting about the Ansel family Bible. It is in a beautiful cedar box engraved with "The Holy Bible". The back of the cedar box has an emblem that says, "Union Made - United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Miners of America".

The actual Bible is bound in white leather with a zipper. Gold letters on the front say, "Memorial Edition Holy Bible Concordance". The first page of the Bible says "Presented in loving memory of Albert P. Ansel by Almalgated Meat Cutters Local 189."

Monique

Re: Catherine Snowdeal

I know very little about the snowdeal line. I
only have info from a bio done on my gggrand-
father.George Randall in 1888 stating she was
his mother, b. in Hagerstown,MD. lived in Frederick
County VA prior to m. to Nicholas Randall in
Berkeley County VA on 10-26-1813. She was
widowed in 1834 (they lived in Winchester,
Frederick Co. VA) and left there with her children
and their spouses in 1836 going to Athens Co. OH.
Catherine died in OH several years after the
death of her husband.
That is all the info I have. I just made contact with
another Snowdeal researcher re Nicholas Snowdeal who
could possibly be related to Catherine as he
too lived in Frederick Co. VA at the same time.
I have not heard of your Joseph Snowdeal so any
info you have that I might work on would be helpful
Thanks,
Jan Randall

Who is char ansel? I found this name as a
source of information supplied to LDS for
the marriage of Nicholas Randall and Catherine
Snowdeal. They are my ggggrandparents. How
do they connect to Ansel?
I would love to learn something about this couple.
And about Ansel who must have connections to them.
