Is there anyone out there interested in the ancient New York branch of the Antis family? I believe the name derives from the Palatine Germans, actually 2 branches in colonial NY. The first is from Meisenheim Germany of Conrad "Anthes" who came in 1710. Another branch seems to be founded by Franz Anthes from Zweibrueken who arrived in NY closer to 1757 and married Dorothea Ostermann in Schoharie in 1758. The first family seemed to be mostly found in the Reformed church and the second Lutheran.
I'm looking for more church records to confirm, what I have is mostly from Jones Palatine book series, but it appears that only one son of Conrad Anthes survived and had offspring in the Mohawk Valley and both sets of descendants may have gotten lumped together as his children although found in 2 different churches and locations.
The records it seems are not all there and skimpy on info, but I hope to unravel some of the confusion if anyone can help me with more data??
There are a lot of loose ends to connect all the dots, yet I think I'm further along than when I first threw up my hands at this quanry.
Give me a holler won't ya?
