Hello.

I recently read your inquiry about any Antis family members known in the Ohio area. My great grandmother (several times removed) Martha Antis married Robert Sloan, Sr. and they lived in Zanesville, Ohio.

It was rumored that they or Robert's father came from PA so I think it may be the same family.

My Martha's father was Rhinehart Richard Antis and he died in 1811 and is buried in Pitt Township, Allegheny City, PA. Rhinehart married Katherine ? and together they had the following known children:

Martha
Ruth
Richard
Susannah
Christina

Martha (who is my link) married Robert Sloan, Sr. on September 17 1801 in PA. She died May 22, 1819. Robert was born March 12, 1781 in Belfast, Ireland.

Together Martha and Robert had the following children:

Mary b. 6/2/1802
John b. 1/6/1804
Martha b. 11/8/1805
Jane b. 10/8/1807
Rinehart H. b. 9/3/1809
Robert b. 6/1/1810
George b. 5/22/1819

Rinehart is my link. He married twice, first to a woman with the first name of Lois, last name unknown.

They had numerous children, one in particular, William M. Sloan who was my great great grandfather.

During the Civil War William, who was in the Union Calvary, was stationed in Knox County, Knoxville, Tennessee and after the war ended he married a girl originally from N.C. but who had moved to Knoxville at a young age. The girl was Mary Margaret Hodges.

William and his best friend Andrew McClain married the Hodges sisters, Mary Margaret and Charlotta (respectively) in a double ceremony in Knoxville. William built a house for his bride in the western part of Knox County now known as Powell.

Their house still stands on Beaver Creek Lane in Powell. They had three children:

Florence
James William
Ella Margaret

Florence was my great grandmother. She married Stephen Paton Smith, Jr. and together they had 11 children:

Ella, Mary, Lizzie, Elmer, Nellie Cordella, Jessie Rae, (twins) Pearl & Rhueba, William, Stephen Paton, III and Hattie Mae.

Hattie Mae was my grandmother and after her first husband died by his own hand she married my grandfather, Floyd Arthur Hunter. Together they had:

Alvin Ray
James Arthur
Fannanell

Fannanell Hunter married Robert Lee Hatfield, Jr. and together they had:

Janna Lynn
Robert Lee, III
and myself, Jennifer Ann

I'm now married and living in Waco, Texas. My husband is Bradley Alan Knowles and we have a 18 mos. old son, Andrew Robert.

Please email me and let me know you received this email. I would love to dig deeper into our family tree to see if we share a branch or tree!
