Surnames: ANTOINE/LANGOUER
My maternal grandfather came to the US from the Cornwall/Brockville area of Ontario about 1915(?). His name was Ercil Langouer, but he may well have been using a ficticious last name. Family history gives the actual surname as Antoine. One of Ercil's brothers, Dan, came south with him and settled in the area of Watertown NY. Dan also used the name Langouer. Another brother, Martin, who stayed in Canada sent a condolence card at the time of Ericil's wife's death (1935) and signed the card Mr. and Mrs. Martin Antoine and daughter. I believe there were about a dozen children in Ercil's generation including one named Fernie. Does any of this connect to anyone else's research? If it rings any bells, please email me at Aelfwyn@aol.com.
