Presumably this is the family you refer to

1910: Justice Precinct 1, Medina, Texas
Addie L Prickett Wd 39 TX AL AL
Gertrude Anway 21 Wd Indian teritory VT TX
Viola Anway 3 NM
Grace Gates 19
Orlien Gates 18
Albert Gates 16
Clarence Pricketts 12
Frances Pricketts 9
Altah Pricketts 7
Virgil Pricketts 6
Mildred Pricketts 3

So Viola was born 1906-1907. I know of Anways in Colorado in the time frame 1865-1900, but all the Males are accounted for and elsewhere by 1905. My great great grandfather and his children were near Colorado Springs and then Florissant. My Great grandfather was in Leadville for a visit to his sister in the 1880 census, but returned to Michigan and lived there for the rest of his life. There aren't a large number of Anways, as the name was made up about 1815. If you have questions about any Anways you find in the census you should find them here:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Just go to the index and look up a name. There may be a few Anways missing from my file in 1910, but not many.

Here's a guy who was in CO in 1910
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Hi,

I noticed that the town Leadville CO was mentioned above at this message board . . .

Does anyone of you have old photos from Leadville?

I have some unidentified photos of persons who lived at Leadville during roughly 1890’s to 1900’s.

Would you be kind to check if you can find any match between your photos and my photos or you might have information about some of the persons on my photos?
John A. Odell

I am looking for the parents of John A. Odell, born in Virginia 1847-1849. He appears in 1870 Census in Warren County,Pennsylvania with wife Jane/Jennie and newborn son Charles. 1880 Census finds him in McKean County, Pennsylvania.

I can't determine who his parents were---was John A. Odell a Virginian or did he just happen to be born there? There is an Odell family in Pennsylvania but....????

I have pounded my head against this brick wall for years because of these darn Odells! (I even persuaded my brother to do the DNA bit but that didn't help) I'm hoping someone out there can help me tear down this wall.

Laurie Odell Rollinson

Debbie. My husband's grandfather was David Adelbert Anway, son of Samuel Benson Anway, son of Henry Erastus Anway. I do have quite a bit of information on him. Henry is buried in the local cemetery here. I have pictures of it if interested. Mary Jane Hillis also has a maiden name of Royce according to my info.

Wanda, noticed your post on Anway or Nanny. I do know that there were Anway's just south of Mason City in Hansell. These Anway's came up to southeast MN. I did not find a John William in their family line but I do not have all of their children. There was one child born in 1884 to this family a William Harvey Anway. He left Hansell to settle in Chatfield, Fillmore Co., MN

Jerry..

I do have 3 Harold Anway's in my file, but not one married to a Bertha Platz. What would I have that you would like to swap with me. Keep in mind the I have short-term memory. I have looked back at the old e-mails we exchanged, but am to tire to think. Give me an e-mail jingle.
Dawn

David Anway moved to Wyandot Co.,Ohio and later to Allegan Co., MI. His daughter Polly Anway married Miles Reed in Allegan Co., MI in 1854 and in 1870 they moved the family to Manhattan, Riley Co., KS, where she died in 1900.

Lela Brown was born in 1917-1919 in Missouri to Lewis and Maggie Brown, my great-grandparents. Lewis and Maggie divorced when Lela was young. Maggie took her and later placed her with an Anway family in the Decatur County Iowa area. I found a Lela Anway in the 1930 Decatur County IA census, listed as age 12 and an adopted daughter of Charles and Katherine Anway. I would love any information on Lela. My grandfather is deceased and never knew where his sister ended up, how her life turned out, etc. and my grandmother would love to find out more about her. Lisa

The family name was orignally Nanny, but changed to Anway in the early 1800's. Would you like to exchange info? I know some of the Anways moved to Michigan. Elizabeth

Anway, John or Charles

I am looking for info on John Anway, born approx. 1854 and died in the Los Angeles area in 1935 or so; or his brother, Charlie Anway of Haines, Alaska, born May 1, 1857 and died Dec. 1949. I recently went on a trip to Haines and met all the wonderful people there who knew Charlie. While there, we came across a record of some letters and photos of his that were given to a Joe and Carol Anway of Michigan, sometime in the 1960's, I believe, when they visited. I would love to get copies of those photos and/or letters; some of them were from his sister-in-law Ella M. Anway (married to John Anway) who was my great grandmother. Can you help? Thanks!
