Patricia,
Did I ever contact you in re your ANYAN query ?
I am likely the oldest remaining Anyan & still search for more info all the time .
my new email is myo1@mindspring .com
I wanted to tell you, that from what you say, your ANYAN connection is most likely to be from the line of Bendall Anyan & his wife, Mary Ann (Stammers)Anyan. This family was/is from Alabama. One of their children was George H. Anyan.
This George may be your grandad.
If you will go to the "Family Tree Maker" search engine & type in BENDALL ANYAN, their "World Connect" section will give you info on this family-their children, dates born, etc.
He's also on some of the Alabama census sheets, along with wife, kids, ages, etc.-the 1850 Madison Co., AL. census
shows Bendle Anyon,48, b.VA-Wife Mary,46,b.TN.-John M.,21,b.AL-George H,19,b.AL.-Benjamin F.,17,b.AL-allthe rest b.in AL-Elizabeth,16-Thomas J.,13-James W., 8,-& Sarah C.,3.
Hope this gives you some help.;of course, the butchering of names is somewhat to be expected.
My own Anyan line is down from very early Virginia records( same general area where Bendall S. was apparently born)census records of 1782 showing John Anyan in Amelia Co,. VA.-& even earlier, the father of this John being James, shown on some records records of AGBI as born 175?., in VA.
Best regards,
Marian Anyan Ossana
