My given name was irving Noah Appelbaum, born May 5, 1925 in NYC. My father was Louis Appelbaum, brother of Morris Appelbaum (with three sons, Louis, Ralph, and one other I don't recall). Yes, I've just turned 86!
Another brother was Ben living in Akron with 6 children I believe, and Izzie, who lived in Hartford Conn. until he moved to Long Beach NY where my father and mother lived out their lives.
In 1951, starting a career in San Francisco theater and UC Berkeley teaching I changed my name to our grandfather's- Rachmael,(Rachmiel)- and took the surname of Ben-Avram.
My sister Billie, now 80 yrs! lives in Palm Springs, and we often talk about finding our Cleveland relations. Are you part of what mmust be our Uncle Morris's and Ben's family? We Appelbaums have a rich heritage. We would welcome warmly any connections that are still open to us.
The fact you spell Appelbaum with an "el" and mention familiar first names is promisng. Please don't hesitate to respond,-- even if it may be we do not share our roots. But my intuition tells me the aswer is YES.
