I have compiled this info in a book and have one available. I put it together strictly for my family and I give them away. If you want one, it is yours.Donald

His daughters were Annie Mae and Toot. All are deceased at this time. They all grew up around Bakersfield and Fresno, California. Doc Applewhite had nieces that were of the Hinton Family.
Hey Bennie...I'm trying to pick up a bit where the OP left off, the Herman Applewhite he was looking for is actually my great grandfather, his father was William Edward Applewhite and his mother was Mary Ann Jelks, he had one brother, Wilbur Applewhite born in 1890, and Herman himself was born in 1894...maybe Wilbur is your relative?...or perhaps you're from a nother branch?

Searching for William A. Applewhite, Carroll County, MS

I am still searching for any information concerning my gggrandfather, William A (possibly Augustus) Applewhite. Most of the information I have found about him (except for some census records)I can't prove! Some family trees say he was born in Carroll County, MS, in 1821, but Carroll County hadn't been formed yet. There was a Woodard (sp?) Applewhite living at the time of the formation of the county and he was on the Police Board, but I can't prove any relationship between him and William. William A. Applewhite married Martha Elizabeth Latham in 1843. I find them in the Carroll County census of 1850 with three children. I next find them in the 1870 Census of Tarrant County, Texas with five children, one my great grandfather, John Augustus Applewhite. Elizabeth apparently died at 46 in Texas and if some family trees are correct, William must have moved back to Carroll County where he died in 1893. Apparently the children all stayed in Texas; my great grandfather, John A. Applewhite eventually moving to the Indian Territory (Oklahoma). I would really appreciate any help from anyone, please. Richard

I hope that this is still a good e-mail address. I have Mahala Applewhite and her husband James Norval-Norville.I do know about her family and children. My line comes thur their youngest child John Wesley who went west to California as a young man and ended up in Oregon. I have been working on Mahala's parents. I have not been able to connect her with a family. There are several Applewhite families in the Wayne/Edgecombe counties, NC but from available information I have not made a connection. She named one of her sons Elisha which leads me to think she may be connected to that group in Wayne Co. She did live in Wayne county in 1830 with husband James and his brother Oliver. Hopefully you are still at this email and I may connect with you. Thanks Nancy

The e-mail is still working! The my great grandmother Gertia NORVILL Dyekman is our connection. I have forwarded your letter to my mother Imogene SHERMAN Ashford. The Norvill clan are very interesting to say the least. I have no info on the Applewhite side and would love to share with you what you are willing to part with. Mahala was married to James Norvill when they migrated to Fulton Co. Il. She remarried one or two after his death. She is buried in the Lyons Cemetery in Fulton Co. Il, next to James Norvill. Her married name at that time was Marks. Mahala and JAmes were parents of Hardy Anderson Norvill, he was father of James T, who was the father of Gertia (my great grandmother) I've waited along time to find Applewhite cousins!!
I am not researching the Applewhite family, but...

While indexing a book thought to contain Superior Court minutes for Rabun County, GA for the years 1829 - 1839, I ran across the name "Thomas B. Applewhite". It was such an unusual surname, I thought I'd look to see if anyone was researching this person.

The particular reference occurs on p. 2 of this book, for the April 1829 term of court. My notes say "George Foster vs. Thomas B. Applewhite" and that's all I have. Hope it helps someone!

My husband also has William Henry Applewhite b.10 Nov 1825 in England, d. 20 Sep 1896 in Pender Cnty, NC. We have him married to Susan (Jane) Marshall (m. 29 Nov 1847). The only child listed is Andrew Jackson Applewhite b. 10 May 1859, d. 6 Jun 1913. I am sure there were other children, and it was very common to marry, divorce, and remarry. My husband's grandmother did a lot of their family history while she was alive. Unfortunately, she only concentrated on direct lineage and seldom listed siblings.
Hope this helps. I have some more info. E-mail me if I can help.

Hattie Applewhite Kelly was my dad's favorite aunt, the sister of his mother, Eva Jane Applewhite Smith. Do you or anyone of the family know what Julia Lily's maiden name was.
I'm looking for information concerning my father's grandmother, Julia Lilly Applewhite. She was born in Texas and according to my father, Claud Preston Smith, her maiden name was Morgan. She is buried in the Owens Prairie Cemetery in Stephens County, Oklahoma. According to the cemetery records, she was born in Wise County, Texas. In the Census records she lists her father as coming from Missouri. Hopefully someone else is looking for similar information.

William A. Applewhite

Seeking any information on William A. Applewhite and his wife Margaret Elizabeth Latham. William was born abt 1819 in either Mississippi or Alabama. Margaret Elizabeth was born in Mississippi in 1825. I find them living in Tarrant County, Texas in the 1870 census but I lose them after that. I have a feeling they died and are buried in Tarrant County but cannot prove that. They had seven children; Mary P., William P., James H., John Augustus, Angelina, Margaret Latham and Joseph. Their fourth child, John Augustus Applewhite is my great grandfather. The last two children were born in Texas and the others in Mississippi. I know that Margaret Latham Applewhite married a Taylor and that the oldest girl, Mary P. Applewhite married an Oldham. My great grandfather married a Julia Lily Robinson, moved to Stephens County, Texas first and then on to Stephens County, Indian Territory where my grandmother was born, Eva Jane Applewhite. I'm hoping all this info will help someone recall that they have some information about William A. (Augustus, I think) and Margaret Elizabeth Latham Applewhite...or any of the other children of those two. Thanks.
Richard Smith
esperoaz@cox.net
Sun City, Arizona

Re: Applewhaite family from Barbados

i do have some Applewhaite ancestors from Barbados Henry Applewhaite born in 1633 and died in Isle of Wight VA 1703 he married Hester Kingsland I found in the royal genealogy that Camilla Parker Bowles Duchess of Cornwall is related to Henry Applewhaite and Hester Kingsland. I will search for Emmanuel's lineage if you have anything about Lewis Applewhite's wife Deborah Davies lineage. From what I can gather she was born in 1815 in Indiana and married Lewis Applewhite in Mississippi 1832. From what I have been told verbally that Deborah was native american either of the Cherokee, Sac and Fox, Algonquin, Kiowa etc tribes. She lived in IN, NC, MS, LA, and died in Texas. from some records on ancestry it states she died in Smith County Troup cemetery but my daughter Lou Ann states she was buried in the Riverside Cemetery of Wichita Falls Texas. I believe this to be true as there is a Deborious Applewhite grave. She died of pnuemonia from what my grandmother stated Deborah was my grandmothers grandmother. Grandmothers name was Carrie Delma Lowrance, her mothers name was Frances Louvenia Applewhite Lowrance. Any information would greatly be appreciated here is the website for the Applewhaite line www.wargs.com I don't know if you will find Emmanuels name in this website but good luck Glenda

I am researching the Desmuke family and one of my uncles gave me a book that had been handed down from older generations and it mentions that there were papers found in reference to Dr. Andrew Desmuke in a chest that had been kept by the Applewhites. This would have occured around the Oak Island area. That is where most of my family is buried is at the Oak Island Cemetery also there is a John Applewhite buried there. I have a picture of his headstone and another headstone that is his wife's. If you are looking for another cemetery in that area or the Pleasanton road area you might try the Rutledge Cemetery it is just out side of Poteet Texas. If you would like to have a copy of these picture please contact me at tap630@excite.com
Tommye

Hi Christine
Your Grandfather Thomas Applewhite would be Allen Marshall Applewhites Uncle and Great Uncle to my husband.(HB) Marshall Applewhite was my father inlaws cousin.I have wondered if Samual ever remarried or had more children from another women.Samual and Rose spilt up very soon after Allen was born.We heard it was because he was seeing someone else and got caught. We have also heard that Samual might have been a fireman.I do not know if your grandfather is still living or not but if he is then maybe he knows about the finger on Samuals left hand next to his thumb was missing part of it.I know this from the only picture we have of him with Rose, baby Allen and him.I would sure like to know more about him and his life.I want so much for our son to know of the Applewhite family.Allens mom Roses mother kept everything away from Allen. So Allen never saw his father again.Allen will not talk about him.My husband does not know any of the Applewhite family.Thank You so very much.Margie Applewhite

Hi
There were 2 Marshall Herf Aplewhites. The first was the father of H/B Marshall Herf Applewhite. My husbands Dads father was the brother to the first Marshall Herf Applewhite. The first Marshall Herf Applewhite dad was Jesse Carroll Applewhite married to Texana Marshall.Jesse also had a Son named Thomas Carroll Applewhite.Jesse Carrol Applewhite father and mother were Thomas Carroll Applewhite born 1840,and Josephine Cinderella Desmuke born 1858.My problem is finding my husband dads real first name.My husbands dads name is Allen mother Rose Calhoun father Sam Applewhite. We do not know if he is Samuel,Samual,or middle name.We do not know if he died in San Antonio,Texas where Allen was born.Rose and Sam divorced when Allen was a baby.We do not know if he stayed there or remarried.Anyone who might know something please post back.Someone said he might have been a fireman at one time.Allen Applewhite was born in 1929.Maybe this might help someone.maapple1 Margie Applewhite maapple@pacbell.net
