Applins in Mississippi around 1900

Grandfather was John D Applin, b. about 1896 in Wayne County, MS, married Johnnie May Waller. My mom is his daughter, but knows nothing about his parents, siblings, etc. Draft card says he is John D Applin, Jr and that his dad was born in Wayne County also. Anyone out there that can help?

APPLIN, Todd Anthony 39 of Springfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2011 at Springfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 27, 1971 in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Ohio State School for Deaf, 1990, where he was avid basketball player, MVP for 3 yrs, playing point guard. He was employed at Frisches.

His survivors include mother, Cecilia (Sally) Applin of Wapakoneta, Ohio, father and stepmother, Melvin (Colleen) Applin Sr., of Springfield, Ohio, brother, Melvin (Tina) Applin Jr., of Wapakoneta, OH, stepbrother Aaron (Beth) Cosby of Springfield, OH paternal grandmother Beautine Applin of Springfield, maternal grandmother Lucille Armstrong of Glendale, AZ, a special daughter, Shelly Greathouse, and a host of family, friends.

Service for Todd Applin will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Porter-Qualls Funeral Home 823 S. Yellow Springs St., Springfield, Ohio.
Visitation will be 11:00am until time of service, which will be at 12noon with Reverend Dr. John E. Freeman officiating.
Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls Funeral Home.

She was born on March 4, 1925 in South Charleston, Ohio to LeRoy and Eliza Whitelow.

Sister Applin was a devoted and loving, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former member of Greater First Missionary Baptist Church were she served as the First Lady being the companion and help mate for the late Pastor Kenneth B. Applin, Sr.

Sister Applin then became a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church were she served as a Deaconess; she also was affiliated with the Clark County, Ohio Missionary Board; Minister Wives, Circle of Friends, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Ms. Applin retired from the Springfield School Board after many years of service.

She leaves her loving and devoted children, Pastor Kenneth (Sheila) Applin, Jr.; Wanda Rochelle (Henry) Oliver, James (Alverda) Applin, Sr.; Marylyn I. Tyler and Juan H. (Sharon) Applin, Sr.; brother, William (Mabel) Whitelow, Sr.; two sisters, Mary Jane Whitelow and Wanda (Finis) Martin; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Applin and Beautine Applin; brother-in-law, Lester Applin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,

Sister Applin is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Kenneth B. Applin, Sr.; parents, LeRoy and Eliza Whitelow; brother, Merritt E. Whitelow, Sr.

My great-grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Wilson, and her first husband Sterling Price Rogers.

Can you tell me how this John A Applin is related to John M Applin, b 5/19/1847 Sharp Tx? I show John M as married to Mattie (Martha) Drucilla Wilson. I believe Mary and Martha were sisters.

Hi. The link actually starts with Mabel Brown (Sarah and Thankful's mother). Her father was Timothy Brown; her grandfather Thomas Brown was married to Mercy Hayward, whose parents were George Hayward and Anna White. Anna White's father was Resolved White, who was a Pilgrim on the Mayflower (age 5) with his father in the company of his father William White and mother Susannah. Hope this helps.

Looking for relations in Canada

I live in New Zealand, & am a 3rd generation Kiwi. As my great grandparents came out here in 1865. They settleed in Napier. Their names were Robert & Jane Applin. They came from Dorset, UK. My grandfather was George Applin & was born in 1877. He droppped a 'p' from the family name before he married in 1908.
I don't know if my gr8grandfather had any brothers, who may have immigrated to Canada. But if he did, I'd like to get in contact with them.
I've live in Canada, so know a few places in BC & Alberta. I also know 1st hand how cold the winters can be. & would love to return to Canada, to live for the rest of my life. I'm a single guy, in my early 50s, & am on an Invalids benefit here in New Zealand, due to a bit of arthritis in both knees, left hip & back. But I get about quite well, as the arthriris is under control. I'm due to have knee replacement surgery on my left knee on the 24th of nxt mth.

My gr8 grandfather was Robert Applin. & came from Dorset. He came out to New Zealand in 1865. I don't know if he had any brothers, though. So I'm looking for any of his possible brothers who may have immigrated to Canada, or the US. My grandfather was George Applin, but he dropped a 'p' from the family name before he got married in 1908.
I'm a 3rd generation New Zealander, but have a strong desire to live in Canada. I've been there before & love the country & people.

I have begun the process to prove a Mayflower Pilgrim ancestry. Has anyone done this through any of the children of Thomas Applin (1732-1804) & Mabel Brown (1733-1776), and would be willing to share their documentation? The Mayflower Society has a record of a proven descent from their daughter Sarah Applin, but not her sister Thankful, my 6th g-grandmother. The other children were Thomas, John, Anna, Timothy, Isaac, Mabel & Pamela.

Thankful was born 19 Jan 1767 in Swanzey, Cheshire, New Hampshire and died 8 Nov 1834 in Marion, New York. She married Asa Freeman 30 Dec 1790.

My Wife's Great Grandfather's name was George Applin b5/1848 and married to Garilla Schwartz b11/1852. They were married abt.1873 and had 2 children. One child was Minnie I. b4/1876 and married Homer H. Knights b10/1874. and resided
in Dansville, NY until their deaths.
George Applin resided in West Sparta, Livingston County, NY per the 1900 Federal Census.
Trying to find out more about George's ancestry as well as Minnie I.'s sibling.

Mary Elizabeth Wilson was the daughter of Early Wilson and Narcisra "Jimmie" Lee.
John A. Applin and Mary Elizabeth Wilson had only one child -
Alvin Alonzo Applin b. 04-30-1888, Mound, Coryell Cty, TX - before the death of
John A. in the collapse of a bridge across the Brazos River or the Little River.

Alvin Alonzo was my grandfather.

Anna Applin, Born 10/21/1755 in Palmer, MA, was the daughter of Thomas Applin and Mabel Brown. you may also find her listed as Alice, in some records.

The Applins are my mothers family. My grandmother was Norma Louise Applin born 1918 Somerville, MA.

Harold Kell married Henrietta Pearson, my great grandfather's sister, in Dec qtr 1879 and had 3 children before moving away from Hackney. I would be very interested in knowing what else you have on that line. Seeking anything on the above. Irene was the daughter of William and Irene Gordon Montgomery of Autauga County, AL b. Jun 1867. She married Jefferson D. Floyd in Autauga County on 27 Feb 1889. It appears they divorced as Jefferson had remarried on the 1910 San Francisco Census. Irene and Floyd had two sons, Jefferson D. b. 31 Dec 1889 and died Mar 1973; and Edward William born 9 Nov 1891 and died 9 Oct 1945 in San Mateo County, California.

Irene appears to have married a Sargent by Sept 6, 1910 when she and a sister filed suit against their sister, in AL and was named in that suit as Irene Sargent.

Irene is listed as Irene Applin and on the 1930 San Francisco Census living with sons but no husband. She was alive when her brother, William Montgomery died in 1940 in Birmingham, AL.

Would like to know the name of her Applin husband.

We are looking for my great, great grandfather who was supposedly killed in the Civil War on the day his son was born around 1862-63. My great, great grandmother, Margaret, settled in Schenectady, NY where she remarried a Mr. De Graff who was a farmer. We don't know my g-g- grandfather's first name. I have been trying to find my gr gr grandfather who supposedly killed in the battle of Vicksburg. His widow Margaret, born in Wisconsin, and young son Thomas (born in St. Paul, MN) ended up in Schenectady and eventually Albany, NY. As I was researching my family, I discovered Charles Applin and his wife Julia. They went west first to Illinois where their son Reuben was born and then to Wisconsin where a second son Clarence was born. Eventually they ended up on a farm in MN. Rufus and Andrus lived with them. Both of these brothers served in the Civil War. Rufus was killed at the Battle of Vicksburg. Andrus, it seems from death notices, married Rufus' wife Mary. I found all of this info in the MN census of 1860, in Civil War records, and in MN death records. Rufus may have been my gr gr grandfather, although I think this is unlikely.

Parents= Vincent James Applin & Mary Ann Kell.
Do these names ring any bells? They appear to have been in Machester around 1845-1860, with a spell in Huddersfield, later they moved down to London where they connect to my family. All my reference material is for London & Essex, so am hoping that someone out there recognises the names. The Applin family in general seems to be West Country, no idea why these are in Lancs & Yorks.

William J. Applin d. 1909 aged 46yrs His sister, Harriett, died 1918 age 37/58. Wm. Applin Jr. was b. 1896 in N.Y.
Wm. J. and Harriett were born in Guernsey.
They are bur. in the Gananoque (Ontario) Cemetery.
Wm. Jr. died in WWI.
Jack and Ford bur. in Edmonton, Alberta.
